Morse and Vera

I loved morse but also David Jason in a touch of frost.

Idris Elba from Luther
Adrian Dunbar from Line of Duty
Helen Mirren from Prime Suspect

Sealover Sun 07-Jul-19 09:17:54

Oh yes, Morse and Vera for me too.

Foyle’s War

Too many good'uns - Morse, Columbo, Frost. However, I have to make mention of DI Humphrey Goodman, played by the inimitable Kris Marshall, in Death in Paradise. Wonderful comedic acting!

George Gently and Vera

Marydoll Sun 07-Jul-19 09:33:23

Oh, so difficult! Montalbano, Morse, Foyle, Ted Hastings, (Adrian Dunbar) and the rest. grin

Salvo Montalbano just for sexiness. And I don’t even prefer short men but he’s the exception.

Ellianne Sun 07-Jul-19 09:42:31

George Gently, and Bergerac for the Jersey lifestyle.

wicklowwinnie Sun 07-Jul-19 09:43:20

Douglas Henshall in Shetland and Taggart. smile

Miss Marple. Oh and Morse and Vera

I like Laure in Spiral, and her male assistant who my friend calls 'bull-dog man' - I can't recall his name, he's got that battered about look which can be attractive in a man.
Also Neil Dudgeon in Midsomer Murders.
I also like looking at the beautiful scenery of Paris and what we like to think of as typical British villages.

Michael Kitchen in anything ...but in Foyles War , he is enigmatic. Casting just right. Love Frost... and adore Lewis , but I think that’s for the dishy Lawrence Fox as have never been big fan of Kevin Whately. Vera is so good as well. In fact detective shows are my go too programmes when I want cheering up.... all that murder and mayhem.... oh on that point I firgot the fabulous Midsommer and it’s glorious ‘body count’. Love em all.

Morse!!

ninathenana Sun 07-Jul-19 09:51:10

All of the above.

DH and I both love a good detective story. I can't think of one I don't like.

Not strictly detectives but we love all the NCIS programs. Mark Harmon is an added bonus ?

Commander Steve McGarrett, the new Hawaii Five-0 ❤️

EllanVannin Sun 07-Jul-19 09:53:18

Paddy Considine ( Mr Whicher series)
Colombo.
Vera.

Hahahaha, there seems to be a pattern going on here as they all appeared " down at heel ". I always did favour the underdog !

Goodbyetoallthat Sun 07-Jul-19 09:53:53

Father Brown played by Mark Williams.

olliebeak Sun 07-Jul-19 09:54:45

DCI Barnaby played by John Nettles - sorry Neil Dudgeon, I quite like you, but not in this :-( / DCI Vera Stanhope (Brenda Blethyn) / Miss Marple (played by Geraldine McEwan or Julia McKenzie) / Hercule Poirot (David Suchet)

Mossfarr Sun 07-Jul-19 09:54:54

Shaun Evans as Endeavour for me.
I also like Morse, Vera and Frost (although David Jason was far too old for the role for any sense of reality).
In my younger days I loved The Sweeney but watching it now its far too aggressive and unrealistic.
I also like Hearbeat, it has lovely a sense of times past when life was more gentle - even the crime!
Does anyone actually watch Midsomer Murders, Murder She Wrote or the Miss Marple type of programs? To me they are absolute rubbish.

maximka25 Sun 07-Jul-19 09:57:45

Inspector Montalbano (with Luca Zingaretti, not the young Montalbano)
Brother Cadfael
Poirot (David Suchet)
Morse/Endeavour (both are brilliant)
