4 is really the most of us who meet up occasionally.
However we could go through the ailments between us.

I've just copied it to my own group of ladies who lunch. I love it!

Thanks Maw I love this! I’m going to share it with my ladies group in Malaga. I started a group just over 4y ago when I retired of ladies out there (3 ex pats and some like me who hop between here and there) and we meet in a local bar for wine & tapas.

We call our group LWW (ladies who wine) as the original joke was, with meeting up every week, we couldn’t afford to be Ladies Who Lunch!

The group might be 4 of us one week and anything up to 10 as sometimes regular members will bring a friend who is on their holiday. Gosh, we have some laughs and over the years we now have developed a real sense of friendship and caring.

Having been to a get together last week, I can go along with that poem. It's great!

we have a group of 5 who lunch and cinema. We sit amongst tables of oldies and feel we are not one of them - we are of course!

That made me laugh. The ladies I lunch with seem quite healthy, but maybe it's just that all aches and worries are put to one side when you're in good company.

Excellent. Just love the mental picture it conjures up. I recognise it all!

Thinking on that verse Maw it reminds me of the gentle style of the late Maeve Binchy. I used to love her books. Tara Road was my favourite I recall.

And this I bought years ago is wonderful and along the same humour!

I love our little group of 'Netters, we've even booked a 2-night break away. We always cause chaos with our laughing and stories

Ellianne, I'm the same as you as regards friends. The 4 of mine are younger----by just a few years so it's just a quick " how are we all " before continuing our conversations so you don't really have chance or the inclination to talk about the down-sides that life in general can bring. However I'm going to copy this by way of a conversation piece to see if it strikes a chord.

Sadly I've lost my other long-term friends with whom we discussed various illnesses/ailments and mishaps, laughingly I might add which helped a lot.

This made me rather sad too.
Three ladies who used to lunch have died too young, two others can't get out much now so we took lunch with us to one's house, where I sat whilst she and another discussed their ailments.

Actually EV you’re right about confiding in friends too. It helps and shows we care. Life isn’t all bubblegum and candy floss. It’s good in a group of friends to be able to open up. It helps to have support - through difficult times as well as good.

Our LWW have got to know one another really well by now. We know of their families and worries. We’ve very occasionally shed some tears and given hugs. It’s a special friendship group that we all value and look forward to.

We joke (but mean it) when we say what gets said at LWW stays in LWW. We all appreciate kindness when we’re feeling vulnerable or anxious.
