The weather is awful, it's not even August and the nights are drawing in. My husband has an irritating cough and the cat has disappeared.

MissAdventure Wed 31-Jul-19 22:25:50

My ankle aches, the bedroom needs painting, my plants have an earwig infestation and my neighbour regularly gets on my wick.

Urmstongran Wed 31-Jul-19 22:30:27

Loving this already because it’s such an unusual thread!

EllanVannin Wed 31-Jul-19 22:31:00

I'm sitting here with a big cardigan on which I've worn for most of the day. I noticed the sudden darkness too but it's been dull all day. Miserable isn't it ?

MissAdventure Wed 31-Jul-19 22:35:26

A cardigan?
It's sweltering here!
Far too hot; I have to have a fan on all night, and as well as my lips being stuck to my teeth every morning, I dread to think what my electricity bill is going to be like!

Specky Wed 31-Jul-19 22:38:20

Lessismore and missadventure.. I feel your pain!
My main problem is that it took me, 17 attempts to type missadventure with my new acrylics but ive just copied and pasted it this time... Hah! I love the idea of a moaning thread (oops sorry im being positive!) xx grin

Bathsheba Wed 31-Jul-19 22:40:13

The flowers have fallen over in the rain and wind, the overflow fridge has packed up, and my roots need doing. And I too have been mostly wearing a cardigan today 😖

merlotgran Wed 31-Jul-19 22:41:17

I'm not tired and there's nothing worth watching on the telly.

Chewbacca Wed 31-Jul-19 22:44:36

It's rained non stop for 36 hours. The already broken and uneven driveway is now a death trap and the garden is a lake. Just another reason to regret buying this wretched house.

annodomini Wed 31-Jul-19 23:03:57

Flooded garden and two inches of water in my small cellar which, in an earlier existence was the coal cellar in this miner's cottage. Grrrr! angry

boheminan Wed 31-Jul-19 23:24:21

Three bloody chickens - no eggs - again....

Bellanonna Wed 31-Jul-19 23:24:28

Less than five months to Christmas ☹️

WOODMOUSE49 Wed 31-Jul-19 23:49:51

In 5 months I'll be 70. Been digging all day so I feel 80! Looking at photos from 1960's, I now feel like 90.

I sympathise about the chickens boheminan. Been there. They are now under the ground. shock Natural causes

Namsnanny Wed 31-Jul-19 23:50:57

NOOO!!! you mentioned it!

Now I really feel in the mood to write on this thread!

Ive had infected eyes/throat/ears, one after the other now its ears again.

My petunias have gone down hill since the rain, so they will have to go.

The police just rang to say my car was abandoned in town, and I thought it was in the garage having an MOT!

And every day gets a little bit shorter until Dec 21st, sooooo depressing.

Namsnanny Wed 31-Jul-19 23:55:17

NOOO!!! you mentioned it To Bellanonna about C*******s

gransal Thu 01-Aug-19 00:02:34

dh made a chicken pie. If he tells me again how he chopped th F*****g veg and how to make a roux I will have to kill him. Apart from that life is just bluddy peachy

Specky Thu 01-Aug-19 00:03:59

Not the C WORD!

Namsnanny Thu 01-Aug-19 00:07:12

gransal……..don't, you made me laugh!

SalsaQueen Thu 01-Aug-19 00:07:15

It's rained all day, the bastards who employ me have shut the day centre that I run (with no warning, nothing), due to lack of funds. At the age of 60, I'll soon need to find another job. I've put on 3lbs this week, and I've got a headache.

Pantglas1 Thu 01-Aug-19 05:32:12

Oh gransal how funny! I’ve also got one who needs a gold star for anything culinary although he does other jobs unasked. I really shouldn’t moan......

aggie Thu 01-Aug-19 06:17:53

I can't sleep and I have no reason to get up early today , forgot to water the tomatoes yesterday but they aren't ripening anyway . Garden is parched , who said raised beds are a good idea , they dry out in a blink , we have no rain , just drying wind . I have to crochet to keep the bisuit barrel at bay ....sigh

absent Thu 01-Aug-19 06:45:01

Mr absent has been in great pain with arthritis in his shoulder since Tuesday evening – it is now Thursday evening here. He delivers hourly bulletins throughout the day, but not yet during the night. It is only a matter of time.

I spent nearly two hours yesterday trying (and eventually succeeding) to collect his prescription for the magic medication recommended by the rheumatologist for acute incidents. I do not drive so all the trekking forwards and backwards to the medical centre and pharmacy was on foot. One round trip would have done it if only there had been any communication between the two receptionists.

I have a tedious cold which means I sneeze twice every other minute and my voice sounds like Louis Armstrong. My nose is lit up well in advance of Christmas and every time I cough I sound as if I am shovelling coal.

Bopeep14 Thu 01-Aug-19 06:51:27

Life is pretty rubbish at the moment.
Ill health for both me and my husband both seeing specialist it’s costing a small fortune in parking fees.
Have to start house hunting again ,one of our children’s relationship has broken down, so they are moving out. Sad.

TerryM Thu 01-Aug-19 07:01:45

My back is aching and my big toe hurts
*Love the thread

Katyj Thu 01-Aug-19 07:18:16

The plumber and electrician rang to say they can't come.Just had a new kitchen, but haven't got a sink, washer , oven or hob working yet, looks like takeaway again! Mums in rehabilitation with a broken hip throughly fed up and threatening to leave. And it's raining .Could go on forever, but I'll give someone else a chance.

Auntieflo Thu 01-Aug-19 08:43:54

This greeted me when I went to the loo this morning,

oh and I’ve got super glue on my fingers!

ginny Thu 01-Aug-19 08:52:05

Ex Son in law is an absolute *!!**. Sadly he is slowly alienating DGS who now at 16 is able to see the sort of character his Father is. sad

vena11 Thu 01-Aug-19 08:55:16

I have nothing to moan about yet but then day has just started , give it time.

fizzers Thu 01-Aug-19 09:10:59

My eye is itching , so I think am developing conjunctivitis

My hiatus hernia is playing up and I've not eaten anything

Due to the recent rain my garden is full of newly sprouted weeds and it's to wet to do anything about it.

I have to wait in all day today and possibly tomorrow for an Amazon delivery

that's all....

Bathsheba Thu 01-Aug-19 09:12:33

Well I have a huge moan this morning: it's 1st August.. We’re in the 8th month of another year and it’s all going far too fast 😱😩😭

shysal Thu 01-Aug-19 09:13:17

Moles have dug up my new flower bed, uprooting some of the plants.

Cat has been weeing against the head of my bed.

Forgot to post a birthday card on my morning walk so have to go out again with aching knees and ankles.

Yesterday was tempted by a pack of luxury biscuits in Tesco. I have eaten about 10 of them so far! 77 calories each. shock The rest might end up in the bin, but I hate waste.

ginny my ex SIL is also one of those. Still not coming up with child maintenance. It is the only way he now has of being controlling.

Persistentdonor Thu 01-Aug-19 09:15:09

Oh dear! sad Life gets tedious don't it!!

Teetime Thu 01-Aug-19 09:16:07

My back is painful, I bit my tongue at breakfast and it really hurt, I'm fat again and fancying chocolate all the time and I hate golf!

Lessismore Thu 01-Aug-19 09:25:42

Some stunning moans here, the 10 biscuits, the non communicating receptionists, the scraggy petunias, the eggless chickens, the over involved vegetable chopping husband......I am particularly drawn towards the poster who mentioned Christmas.

Today, I am seeing a film I don't want to see, it's a small moan but it's still early.

silverlining48 Thu 01-Aug-19 09:30:48

I am starting to regret the decision to have a party in the garden this weekend...stress level rising. Too much work, too much worry. Why oh why did I ever think it was a good idea.

Lona Thu 01-Aug-19 09:57:31

This thread has made me laugh and spill tea down my tshirt, so I'll have to put the washer on when I don't really want to and now I feel grumpy!

Love this thread grin

GrannyGravy13 Thu 01-Aug-19 09:58:19

I have come down the road for a manicure/pedicure lovely...........unfortunately I am an hour early!!!!

Bellanonna Thu 01-Aug-19 09:59:47

Really making me laugh! I love the hourly pain bulletins
(familiar!) and the repeated step-by-step recipe prep (not familiar, unfortunately).

toscalily Thu 01-Aug-19 10:10:31

Can I moan about having a moaning thread?

KatyK Thu 01-Aug-19 10:11:05

Oo good I can moan without guilt. I have a blocked ear. I can't have it syringed until I have been putting drops in for two weeks. It only started yesterday and I have something important to do next week and I can't hear properly. I need to be able to.

boheminan Thu 01-Aug-19 10:15:26

still no bloody eggs....

Anniebach Thu 01-Aug-19 10:15:31

A moaning thread, bliss. I don’t feel so alone now.

Bellanonna Thu 01-Aug-19 10:17:25

Hopefully the drops will unblock it by next week KatyK. For megabucks you can have a kind of vacuum extraction. I forget the proper name for the process. I had to have it done when my GP nurse was booked up and we were going on holiday.

KatyK Thu 01-Aug-19 10:20:50

Thanks Bella I get this every few years. The drops never unblock it. Only syringing does the trick. I'll have to cope smile

gillybob Thu 01-Aug-19 10:22:45

The weather is sh*t, It has rained every day since I can't remember, cold enough to wear a jumper, I'm stuck in this god awful place for the foreseeable future, my head hurts, I have a niggling toothache, my DH isn't well and can't get his operation brought forward....other than that life is just bloody brilliant !

Bellanonna Thu 01-Aug-19 10:25:01

Me too Katy. Can you make the appt now for the day before you need to hear properly, and even though it won’t be 2 weeks it should be enough? I have often only used drops for a week. It’s such a horrible feeling isn’t it.

midgey Thu 01-Aug-19 10:31:30

I have just got a speeding fine in the post.....I have yet to tell him indoors.

Squiffy Thu 01-Aug-19 10:53:41

The plants that were installed a few weeks ago are now hidden by the wheat field that has sprouted thanks to the wild bird food.

I will have to listen to DH banging on and on and on about his baking skills - making a pie on Sunday (his suggestion, his speciality hmm ), which involves frozen pastry and a tin of meat and a lot of mess! Only a half-moan as he's really quite useful around the house!!

KatyK Thu 01-Aug-19 10:56:09

Yes it is horrible Bella. I need it to be done by Monday. I won't get an appointment now. They have turned me away before when I've gone early. Never mind. gilly flowers

henetha Thu 01-Aug-19 10:58:31

I've gone deaf in one ear too, and am told it's wax. I can't have my ears syringed as it brings on severe vertigo.
Told to put olive oil in every night for quite a while.
If not, they can use a mini vacuum cleaner to draw it out.
Everything's muffled...
Good luck, similar suffers above..

Margaux Thu 01-Aug-19 11:00:04

So much to do. Why can't I get started?

henetha Thu 01-Aug-19 11:00:12

P.S. I had one of those phone calls just now. Telling me that £600 has been taken out of my bank account and transferred to a foreign country. Press button 1 to prevent this, they said.
I think it's a scam. I did not press button 1.

grizzlybear27 Thu 01-Aug-19 11:07:46

20 bloody chickens and only 1 egg!!!!! 2 torn cartilages, One bloody son not talking to me for 8 weeks!!! And dogs barked all night.

Lessismore Thu 01-Aug-19 11:31:47

A most impressive offering from gilly and a nice little twist from toscalily and Margaux. Margaux, yours in particular resonates with existential angst.

GG, a small but significant moan, enough to ruin the day and possibly the weekend.

henetha, I misread yours and thought the cause of your deafness was sex , not wax.

Oldandverygrey Thu 01-Aug-19 11:42:58

Going out for lunch today thought I would bake a cake to take as a gift. Just lifted cake out of the oven and it has significantly sunk in the middle! threw it in the breadbin, must rush out now to take flowers instead. No rain here for weeks, have to keep watering with a watering can the 3000 pots of flowers my husband insists on having. Tomatoes still bright green, rhubarb flourishing (cant stand it), Neighbour complaining I did not put the green garden waste wheelie bin to be emptied (which I pay for) for HIM to fill it. I could go on and on.

Urmstongran Thu 01-Aug-19 11:53:03

Oh please do oldandverygrey!

This is my favourite thread in such a long time! I’m giggling away at some of these moans.

Thanks for sharing.

You are a very witty bunch!

vena11 Thu 01-Aug-19 12:39:41

Just been fitted with hearing aids hubby is trying to be funny and keeps miming at me all the time, getting on my nerves now lol

merlotgran Thu 01-Aug-19 13:05:14

We have visitors staying tonight so is it really too much for DH to tell me when he's planning on having a shower (preferably not ten minutes before they are due to arrive) so I don't have to clean the bathroom twice? angry

MissAdventure Thu 01-Aug-19 13:07:54

Today I have a pain in the cheek of my bum and a pimple under my eye.

My neighbour has just bought me an eccles cake, which I love, but they give me terrible heartburn!

loopyloo Thu 01-Aug-19 13:10:16

The slugs have eaten my new sunflower that I bought the other day for a £1.

Our washing machine makes a terrible noise, probably need a new one as it's
9 years old.

Our email addresses have been frozen by sky.

HootyMcOwlface Thu 01-Aug-19 13:25:04

Oh me too MissAdventure (pain in bum that is!) my chair is uncomfortable and I had new seat cushions but they seem hard. Hoping they eventually give a bit. I also have wrenched my shoulder, my knees are about 30 years older than the rest of me and I have two big scratches on my leg. My cat tried to eat me last night as she thought I was too slow getting her tea. She also left me a huge poo on the utility room floor overnight. Thanks puss.

KatyK Thu 01-Aug-19 13:28:55

This thread is very refreshing! I am always wary of putting my woes on here (although I frequently do blush) for fear of bringing a thread 'down' . Now there is a place for it!

Lona Thu 01-Aug-19 13:34:34

Got trapped in Sainsbury's by a 91 year old lady who talked solidly at me for at least 10 minutes, she swerved from one subject to another with a skill that many politicians would envy and I could not get a word in edgeways!
I had to run off in the end grin

Katek Thu 01-Aug-19 13:49:05

Ate two very small pieces of cheese last night (dairy intolerant) and thought I could perhaps get away with it. How wrong could I be? Spent miserable evening and night trotting to bathroom. Now shattered and meant to be at Pilates class tonight. They were very small pieces though.......☹️☹️.....

GillT57 Thu 01-Aug-19 14:01:25

Well........trying to decide whether to clean the cobwebs from the kitchen ceiling ( rather high), or wash the kitchen floor, or take some of the stuff in the hall to the charity hall, or weed the freshly planted flower bed.......and sitting here on GN doing none of the above. I need taken in hand, bossed about a bit, told what to do. Main problem is going to other people's houses which are always immaculate and then coming home to mine which never is. Also, while faffing about deciding which job needs to be done first, I accidentally ate 6 chocolate truffles which were in the fruit bowl for some reason.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 01-Aug-19 14:25:04

GillT57 If they were in the fruit bowl then technically they must be "fruit"🍫🍏🍎🍐🍇🍫

MissAdventure Thu 01-Aug-19 14:38:10

grin grannygravy I like your logic.

Esther1 Thu 01-Aug-19 14:41:29

Love this thread. Am minding my 5 year old gd all day again (do this 3 days a week) and am tired of being enthusiastic so have let her (to her delight) watch TV all day!! Feel so guilty and I know she knows it’s wrong because she is laying low and not asking for anything, so I don’t turn it off. The guilt I feel is making me miserable but I am just so exhausted.

MissAdventure Thu 01-Aug-19 14:44:16

I need to tackle painting my wardrobes, and I now have heartburn due to my selfish neighbour making me eat that cake blush

Esther1 Thu 01-Aug-19 14:46:32

Also I put on 4lbs on last weigh-in and still keep picking at food. Tell me to Stop!

Candelle Thu 01-Aug-19 14:47:13

We are installing a new washing machine (bra wire became stuck in the old one, grrr) and so have emptied out the (smallish) utility room. The utility room has now completely taken over the (bigish) kitchen as on every surface there is now 'stuff'. Stuff we need, think we'll need or have needed. Correction: stuff I think I'll need etc. Mr C is obviously entirely innocent.

I will have to spend this afternoon 'going through' said stuff and throwing it away (or quietly putting it back when Mr C is having a snooze...). I'd rather be reading a book.

I have, coincidentally just been presented with a book by Mr C, 'Washing Machine User Manual' and told I should break a habit of a lifetime and read it before using said contraption! Such fun.
Love this thread - it has really cheered me up.

Candelle Thu 01-Aug-19 15:53:47

NotAGran55 Thu 01-Aug-19 16:47:36

I've got to leave Porto and the beautiful weather tomorrow and flog home from the airport on the M25 - The Road To Hell according to Chris Rea.

Pantglas1 Thu 01-Aug-19 16:53:43

Most of the moans have been very different but hilarious reading for other people- we must carry on just like the Welcome to each day thread, where we tell each what’s coming up.

I’m sure I can find something to put a smile on your faces folks!

Cabbie21 Thu 01-Aug-19 17:54:09

Just been sick. I think it was the effort of cleaning on a hot day.

matson Thu 01-Aug-19 18:02:54

Hot !!!, it's positively chilly here 😕 fed up of it!!

Namsnanny Thu 01-Aug-19 19:56:58

Bellanonna…..Me too! Wow, I didn't realise how much I needed a laugh grin

Boheminan…. Do your hens have all the 'necessaries' to make eggs?
I've been watching Marie Antoinette on telly. Louis XV1 was her under performing partner, and I immediately thought of your hens!
Keep us posted, I'm sure they'll deliver soon.

Lessismore...Loving this thread, just what we need for the summertime blues, Thanks!!

DanniRae Thu 01-Aug-19 21:11:05

Love this thread but unfortunately I am having a reasonable day so can't join in.......but give it time!

ginny Thu 01-Aug-19 21:22:48

I would like to moan about someone who keeps burping loudly and never says ‘pardon’.
Such bad manners.angry

DanniRae Fri 02-Aug-19 08:09:41

Ok now I can join in the moaning.
I had a terrible nights sleep because I kept waking up....
I have a headache this morning....
We have grey skies in SE London....
It's only just after 8am - I feel I will be back later.....

LullyDully Fri 02-Aug-19 08:20:21

Me too dannirae I keep waking up for no apparent reason. Then as I think about it I might as well go to the loo. I would love to go to sleep and wake up in the morning. Moan moan.

Yorksherlass Fri 02-Aug-19 08:33:16

Other half snoring all bloody night then says he didn’t sleep!!
Well I had a wonderful night , THANK YOU , 😤 sorry for shouting everyone 😴

Bellanonna Fri 02-Aug-19 08:36:23

I’ve often woken OH up from a deep snore, and he claims he wasn’t even asleep!

MissAdventure Fri 02-Aug-19 08:53:09

I'm tired, my pimple has reached epic proportions overnight, I barely slept, and my bum pain has spread to my groin and down my leg.

lovebeigecardigans1955 Fri 02-Aug-19 09:07:06

I should vacuum upstairs but I can't because puss is on the bed and he's scared of the noise.

I'm on a 'short list' for The Chase but they haven't rung back - there's a year to go before I get 'dumped.' I'm still waiting for Jeremy Clarkson or one of his underlings to request my (brilliant!?) presence. C'mon Jezza.

I could buy a Lotto ticket but I expect that as usual I won't select a single correct number.

vena11 Fri 02-Aug-19 09:17:48

Bad nights sleep cant get motivated this morning so probably just wont bother .

Margaux Fri 02-Aug-19 09:48:34

Great thread Lessismore - like one of those semi-comical wry poems that resonate with others: I moan therefore I am.

Grandmanotnan Fri 02-Aug-19 09:51:05

Weather awful, pain in back , again, funny smell I can’t locate in bathroom/landing. Going to friends house tonight for ‘concert’ in garden, take a chair , a bottle and a plate of food! ( have I mentioned the rain) , today I could go on forever!!!!

Laurensnan Fri 02-Aug-19 10:05:26

I weighed myself this morning and I've put on 5 lb. It's the chocolate
and crisps that keep jumping in my trolley. This needs to stop but they won't listen. Last week some biscuits nipped in too. They sneak in the online food shop too, it's disgraceful.

grove1234 Fri 02-Aug-19 10:05:37

Ecological biodiversity rampant in my garden nasturtium nearly gone Lilly beetle no longer hungry . Cats not currently visiting .

KatyK Fri 02-Aug-19 10:08:39

Checked our Premium Bonds. Nothing. Again. angry

HannahLoisLuke Fri 02-Aug-19 10:12:39

My legs, neck, elbows and wrists have been stiff and painful for a month now but I've got to take advantage of a break in the rain to get up on a ladder and trim four shaggy shrubs.
Lawn needs mowing too but might leave that for now and say I'm growing a wildflower meadow.😉

HannahLoisLuke Fri 02-Aug-19 10:16:14

And my car has been of the road for a month while the garage have tried to source a reconditioned electronic hand brake.
My car is fifteen years old and a new part costs more than the car is worth!
But on the bright side just heard they've found a part and are fixing it this afternoon. Fingers crossed!!!

Lona Fri 02-Aug-19 10:20:09

Hardly any sleep as my right knee keeps twingeing painfully.

I do love a good moan.

marionk Fri 02-Aug-19 10:34:20

BUILDERS not on site AGAIN
No washing machine for a week now because of the BUILDERS
Car badly scratched whilst parked on the road because the BUILDERS materials are all over our drive
Definitely a theme going on here!

missdeke Fri 02-Aug-19 10:34:51

It's not fair!!! I have nothing to moan about and I so wanted to join in envy

Katek Fri 02-Aug-19 10:35:32

Been waiting a week for a crochet kit to arrive and it’s still not here, plus we’ve run out of bread so no toast this morning.

Lilacmickey Fri 02-Aug-19 10:47:32

I have a patch in my eye which has gone blurred and the weather is still humid and I sweat buckets every day. Yes hospital this afternoon.

Pearlsaminger Fri 02-Aug-19 10:53:33

Didn’t get to sleep until gone 1.30am. Woken at 4am by two foxes fighting outside my window. Watched them kicking the life out of each other while they screamed blue murder.
Didn’t get back to sleep until gone 5am.

The postman’s just rung the doorbell 4 times and banged on the front door with his fists for me to answer it. He does it every time he’s on this route, usually three times a week. It infuriates me as I take a little longer to get to the door due to my mobility problems and he knows this. I want to punch him in the face every time he does it. (I’m not a violent person normally!) blush

The new coffee machine my daughter purchased doesn’t like me at all and I fight it every day. I only have to push one button but it always says No!

The next door neighbours are a pain in the backside and are in the middle of a marathon arguing session (usually lasts several hours) I wish they’d shut up. Police will arrive once it spills out onto the street. All the neighbours will be out watching again no doubt, videoing the action!

And I’ve got the car to clean out and vacuum which is difficult at the best of times, before I pick up my elderly neighbour and take her to her social club. If it’s not done she’ll moan at how terrible it is and if I WANT her to come in my car (I’m guilt tripped into giving her a lift as she can’t get a taxi. All the drivers go to the mosque on Fridays!) I should ensure it’s cleaned first! This is the same neighbour who once gave me £10 to go and get a hair dye as my grey roots were showing through (I’d decided to embrace the grey and was growing my hair out) and that I was embarrassing her! Cheeky mare!

Thanks for letting me spill that. I feel much better grin

SillyNanny321 Fri 02-Aug-19 10:59:49

OMG Its that time of year again. My lovely cat sits with a big smile ( she really can smile ) looking at the floor. Two mornings running she has killed & then shown me the bodies. Huge great nasty eight legged monsters! Help!!
