Bodyform ad

Just wondering what other GNetters think of the Bodyform add with the huge number of weird vagina shapes. It took me a while to realise quite what was going on (I thought the knitted one was a flower of some kind ?). I don’t think showing blood on a pad is a particularly pleasant thing to watch when eating my dinner or with young children around. Any thoughts from other grans?

I haven't seen it yet but will look out for it.

merlotgran Tue 03-Sep-19 19:53:28

A knitted vagina? shock

Yes the ad is called Viva la Vulva. If you type that in search you should be able to view it (if you want to ?)

Doodle Tue 03-Sep-19 20:09:56

Actually the viva la vulva one doesn’t show the blood on the pad bit I mentioned. I have seen it twice on TVs recently and it was that bit I objected to.

rockgran Tue 03-Sep-19 20:18:29

I shall see them everywhere now!shock

rockgran Tue 03-Sep-19 20:20:16

I agree that bodily functions are not ideal viewing at mealtimes!

callgirl1 Tue 03-Sep-19 21:03:53

I`ve only seen it once, that was enough!

EllanVannin Tue 03-Sep-19 21:20:57

I haven't seen it and by the sound of things I don't want to either. I watch mainly BBC programmes----no adverts !

A bit of a surprise, but I liked the music ?

So it's actually a knitted Vulva, not a vagina?

Gosh, what fun you all have in the UK.

annep1 Wed 04-Sep-19 03:42:04

Can't find one with blood. Just one with moving vulva , fruits, etc.
Very weird advert.
...anything goes nowadays.

harrigran Wed 04-Sep-19 08:14:51

How totally revolting, pleased that I do not watch any TV adverts, I can't imagine who thinks that is may be acceptable.

Doodle Wed 04-Sep-19 13:47:31

Sorry Bradfordlass yes a knitted vulva. Brown and pink (I think it had eyes at the top but I might have made that bit up) and lots of oysters, origami. It’s the blood bit I object to most. The rest of it I find a bit weird. The thought of all those add staff searching around for anything that could vaguely resemble a vulva. Checking all the fruit in the supermarket, the fish shop...

MissAdventure Wed 04-Sep-19 14:56:39

The kebab shop, for the ones that get dropped and trodden on..

janeainsworth Wed 04-Sep-19 15:01:35

Goodness. I haven’t seen it but what next?
Adverts for Andrex toilet paper featuring knitted anuses? A close up of a toilet bowl complete with skid marks? shockgrin

How strange that some people make such a fuss about a bit of menstrual blood, something that affects over half the population on a regular basis. On TV we are regularly exposed to blood in horror films, crime dramas, hospital dramas, animal programmes, even cooking programmes. This reaction is all part of the stigma that surrounds the perfectly normal functions of a healthy woman's body.

janeainsworth Wed 04-Sep-19 15:27:47

Well, not everyone likes seeing blood in horror films, crime dramas, or hospital dramas.
You could argue that such programmes normalise violence.

janeainsworth Wed 04-Sep-19 15:29:04

Quite a lot of people have a strong dislike or even a phobia about the sight of blood that’s nothing to do with any stigma about a woman’s periods.

janeainsworth Wed 04-Sep-19 15:34:16

Pooping is a perfectly normal bodily function but it doesn’t mean it’s acceptable to poop in public, or that anyone wants to see pictures of poop on their TV screens while they’re eating dinner.

MissAdventure Wed 04-Sep-19 15:35:12

Not even knitted poops?

glammanana Wed 04-Sep-19 15:37:50

I looked at the ad and it was not the most plesent of viewing I must say.

Charleygirl5 Wed 04-Sep-19 15:39:20

I googled it and I hope never to see it on TV. Sorry, but which twisted mind put that together?

janeainsworth Wed 04-Sep-19 15:59:11

MissA it wasn’t the blood that was knitted, was it? A true comparison would be a knitted anus.
Even my phone doesn’t like ‘anus’. First time I used the word it changed it to ‘Andrew’ & the second time to ‘Angus’ ??

Some things are just private Magsymoo and should stay that way.
It doesn't need analysed or explained.
World's gone mad imo.
