Absolutely top of my list has to be Freddie Mercury.
But then Frank Sinatra, Neil Diamond, Rod Stewart,
And these days, James Blunt, Ed Sheeran, Andrea Bocelli.

Callistemon - OMG you remember Long John Baldry? Nobody knows that name nowadays. Greatest blues singer this country produced. Remember seeing him sing with a very young Rod Stewart at the Marquee several times.

welbeck Sun 15-Dec-19 16:30:22

Kathleen Ferrier
Al Bowlly
Gracie Fields
Vera Lynne
Nat King Cole
Matt Monroe
Dusty Springfield
Roy Orbison
Pete Seeger
Jake Thackery

Callistemon Sun 15-Dec-19 16:33:41

I saw him at The Place in Hanley, Long John Baldry and the Hoochie Coochie Men in the early to mid sixties.

Actually, I never realised that Rod Stewart was probably singing too, only had eyes for Long John Baldry grin

I think that Reg Dwight also called himself Elton John, the John being in honour of Long John.

Callistemon Sun 15-Dec-19 16:34:43

Lots of other singers too, but he has always held a special place in my heart smile

grannysyb Sun 15-Dec-19 16:38:26

Kathleen Ferrier, Janet Baker, Roy Orbison, Elvis and my teenage crush Billy Fury!
