I love a bath whilst I can still manage in and out of it! I have a daily shower, but often in the evening feel like a nice hot bubble bath with the candles on. It definitely helps me to sleep better too.

Do you still like to have a bath or is it now easier to have a shower?

I do love my daily or sometimes twice daily shower but every few days especially when its cold a nice hot bath eases my back pain beautifully and warms me up. Hooray for Badedas!

Shower! Every time! I always feel claustrophobic in a bath. In my old house, I had a shower over the bath and was getting to the stage of struggling to get in and out of it so, when I moved house earlier this year, I had the bath ripped out and a full length walk in shower installed instead. It's the best thing I ever did. Much safer, more efficient and far easier to clean than leaning and stretching over a bath to clean round.

Since moving to this house, though we installed a bath, we always shower. Consequently I have had one bath in 16 years ...

A couple of years ago, we were on holiday in Sussex, in a very old, historic hotel - you know the sort - oak beams, four poster bed etc. Our ‘superior’ room had a special ‘feature’ bath tub (and no shower)! I found it really inconvenient and quite irritating. I did not fit the image of a glamorous woman luxuriating in a copper tub of bubbles with a glass of champagne ...

When my partner suggested we share the bath together, I gave him ‘the look’ which was all the answer he needed ...?

Haven’t had a bath in a long time, we had the bath taken out and a walk in shower installed when I had my first hip- replaced best thing we ever did. I never did like sitting in the bath and was a waste of water as I was in and out pretty sharpish.

I was going through a stressful time and went on holiday. Each evening I had a bath in a lovely deep bath. It made me feel so relaxed. I remember returning home and a friend, who was gerentology nurse specialist, said to me to enjoy it as there would come a time when I would not be able to get in and out of it. Of course she was right.

I've been given some nice bath bombs today and I will enjoy using them.

Taken out of context, that's why Aussies can describe a drought as ..."Dry as a a Pommy's bath towel!" tchgrin

I love a scented bubble bath, but I always fall asleep, and wake up in rapidly cooling water, so that puts me off a bit

In a shower, I never feel that my feet have been properly washed.

A shower is fine for a quick wash but I like to relax in a nice hot bath.

I MUCH prefer showering. Except when I lived abroad where baths were rare, I YEARNED for a bath. Now I've got one, I barely use it.

I never have a bath, much prefer a shower. My knees don't bend like they used to, it's too difficult to get in and out of a bath, and I do say this at very regular intervals. So why did I get gallons of (rather expensive) bath foam stuff for Christmas?!

I thought this was going to be a thread about Bath! Apparently they have too many visitors that don’t spend enough!

I love my bath. ❤️

Oops, sorry PamelaJ1! Perhaps I should have re-titled it.

I shower everyday washing my hair and cleaning my teeth at the same time I haven’t had a bath for about 30 years

I agree, I use a bath while I can for relaxing before bed and whenever I can, especially when away on holidays.

That bath I had in Lanzarote was bliss. A really deep bath compared to mine. I simmered in it for a long time!

I'm with Chewbacca on this. We have two bathrooms, each with a shower and no bath. So much safer and easier. We've "grab rails" and a pull-down seat in each shower: these are supposedly for when we get older, but we're finding that the seats are very handy when washing one's feet, and the grab handles are useful too.....

I found I had accumulated a lot of lovely products which can only be used in the bath so I have a bath once a week, usually Saturday evening, and enjoy a nice soak and exfoliate my face, put on a face pack, shave my legs and shampoo and condition my hair. Afterwards I style my hair, do a pedicure and manicure and put on lots of body lotion. The rest of the week I shower. I will carry on with my weekly bath until I find it difficult getting in and out of the bath, I can currently do it relatively easily with the help of grab handles.

FarNorth Thu 26-Dec-19 17:36:51

I have always thought it weird that showers don't all have grab handles as standard.

Baths are my haven. Have tried cutting them down. But it is the only time I am alone and relax

lemongrove Fri 27-Dec-19 22:07:27

Took the bath out and had a large shower installed.....bliss.
If I need the effect of a relaxing bath ( to iron out the aches)
I just set it to a fairly hot level and let it run, it’s a waterfall effect power shower.

I feel lucky to have a bath as well as a separate shower cubicle. The shower is for proper washing but the bath is lovely to just lay in soothing hot water from time to time - I don’t actually wash in it (sometimes have a quick shower to get clean and then a bath simply to relax.

I started having problems getting out of the bath a few years ago, so we had it taken out and the bathroom made into a wet room. I HATE it! Really miss being able to have a bath, even though I know I wouldn`t be able to anyway, I`ve never liked having a shower.

I would love a bath every now and then, especially as sometimes my arthritis plays up and I know the warmth would help.

Sadly it's not possible, so when I go swimming, I nearly always spend the last 10 minutes in the spa.

I have only been in the bath once in the last ten years. I was having terrible abdominal pain and was advised to soak in a warm bath. When it was time to get out I couldn't, ended up with DH lifting me. I am pleased I wasn't on my own, I never think to take my phone with me.
