If funds allowed I’d have a houseful. We have three cats and a dog. Real animal lovers here

We've had both cats and dogs. We currently have just the one cat and DH would love a dog but the cat wouldn't.

We have two toy poodles, two siamese cats, a couple of chickens and biorb with fish!

Calendargirl Fri 06-Mar-20 13:12:47

None.

I’ve always had cats but once our last two very old cats died we didn’t get more as we wanted to be able to get away at short notice and didn’t want to rely on family to step in. I miss having a cat but it’s actually been liberating to have a cat free life.

Just the 2 mogs currently, have had dogs and cats (plus ducks, chickens, sheep, ponies and donkeys in a past life with ex)

However I have a secret hankering to get a Jack Russell puppy and call her Doris blush

3 dogs at the house and 2 dogs and 2 cats and 6 hens a rooster and a pair of geese at our land just down the road not forgetting the 12 chicks we bought yesterday!

One cat- she would hate competition and vet fees are horrendous.

GagaJo Fri 06-Mar-20 13:28:08

I have two cats now. They would be lost without each other. He adores her and she likes his homage.

In the past I had 2 dogs and 4 cats. The tiniest, female cat ruled the roost of them all. It was lovely to watch. They'd line up while she eat and only after she'd finished were they allowed to eat.

Just two cats now, but unlike GagaJo's mine dislike each other!
DD2 phoned last night to tell me that they had reserved a Vizsler puppy, currently 4 weeks old. I am envious envy
This is a Google image of a similar pup.

I have 5 in all a staffie, 3 pugs and an african grey parrot.

Scentia Fri 06-Mar-20 14:31:45

Just the one little Staffie. She costs me a fortune at the vets there is always something wrong with her?

A dog and a canary which had escaped from somewhere and landed in an exhausted state next to my husband. Couldn't trace the owner and he's now been with us for 10 years. A wonderful singer.

H1954 Fri 06-Mar-20 14:42:45

Just the one, my OH! He's such a pet, has just made me a lovely cuppa! Bet you can't get your cats and dogs to make tea!

SalsaQueen Fri 06-Mar-20 15:38:01

A few years ago we had quite a few - 3 cats, 2 gerbils, 2 rabbits, 2 goldfish. They've all died except for my lovely cat Mr Cooper, who is probably about 15 now.

Framilode Fri 06-Mar-20 15:56:32

Just my lovely rescue dog who has transformed our lives. When our old dog died a year ago we said no more but then changed our minds. I am so glad we did.

BlueBelle Fri 06-Mar-20 16:04:19

None for me
when the children were younger I let them have every pet imaginable at different times we had cat, dog, gerbils, rabbits terrapins, snakes etc etc They are now grown up with families of their own and not one of them has any pets and none of them want any so that didn’t work

Calendargirl Fri 06-Mar-20 16:22:53

Bluebelle

Yes, but I think your family are probably very sensible. If more people who work etc. gave a bit more thought to acquiring pets, it might be better for all. Pets take a lot of time, money and care.
My GD, 12, is wittering for a pair of Guinea Pigs. DH has been drafted in to make a hutch and pen. She will look after them, clean them out, feed them before school etc. etc. Guess who will be looking after them when they are away on holiday?
I hope I’m wrong, but think the novelty will soon wear off for GD.

We have two rescued greyhounds, our third and fourth of the breed. Lovely dogs, would love another but you have to be sensible about the cost of caring for them. Have always have dogs all our married life, from labs to dobermanns. Greyhounds are our choice now though, very nice temperaments

janeainsworth Fri 06-Mar-20 16:32:01

None.

sodapop Fri 06-Mar-20 16:37:46

Three dogs, one cat, 10 chickens and a sheep. Expensive, time consuming, keep us tied to the house but we wouldn't have it any other way. We love our rural life.

callgirl1 Fri 06-Mar-20 16:40:14

Just one cat. The most we ever had at one time was 2 cats and a dog, but that was years ago.

Scribbles Fri 06-Mar-20 16:42:30

I am owned by one very proprietorial cat.

Purplepixie Fri 06-Mar-20 16:47:07

None. Sadly my beautiful cat died last November and she was so unique that I cannot get another. She was called Pixie and over 20 years old. My beautiful tabby.

Greenfinch Fri 06-Mar-20 16:47:26

Another one with just one rescue cat.
