Do you go barefoot about the house, or even in the garden?

I always, always wear slippers indoors, and big old comfy flat shoes for work, but I think my feet could do with a bit of an airing.

Do you recommend barefoot? (and what about the possibility of treading on a spider whilst bare!?)

Calendargirl Fri 22-May-20 18:10:07

I like to wear slippers indoors, as my feet are often cold. Not worried about treading on a spider! but prefer not to go barefoot, in case I stub my toe or something equally painful.

I go barefoot a lot of the time. I’m not sure it is recommend though.

I'm barefoot everywhere. Always have been.

I'd be sad for a spider if I rid on one. I like spiders and go out if my way to ensure safe passage for them

However I trod on a slug when I had wandered into the garden one evening

Nasty

But it didn't stop me

Always with slipper socks in the winter.

Never wear anything on my feet indoors, which probably explains the really hard calloused skin on my feet blush

Alishka Fri 22-May-20 18:18:21

I'm barefoot at the momentsmile I've mostly been barefoot in the house since isolating.Funny thing, tho. If I wake up and can't get back to sleep, I put on a pr of bedsocks. Warm feet seem to be my take on a sleeping pill zzzzzzzzzzzz

The barefoot society (or some such organisation) claim that the soles of our feet should be like thick, living leather.

What phoenix said. grin

I went barefoot until I broke my toe bumping into a toy. This was about forty years ago.

Maggiemaybe Fri 22-May-20 18:20:20

Thick, living leather

That’d be about right for mine.

MissAdventure Fri 22-May-20 18:22:15

I'm quite envious of pliable, leathery feet.
Mine are foul, and that's despite wearing sensible shoes all my life.

Nannytopsy Fri 22-May-20 18:24:33

Mine are pretty leathery - I spend most of my time barefoot.

I always wear slippers (at home). The kitchen floor tiles are freezing. My OH never wears them.

My dad had a thing about it as he once trod on a spike that went right through his foot and came out of the top. So nearly seventy years later I am still doing what my Daddy told me!

Oldwoman70 Fri 22-May-20 18:27:17

I wear socks indoors and a pair of comfortable canvas shoes in the garden. I haven't put on a "proper" pair of shoes for 8 weeks!

Often barefoot...inside and in the garden,..feels good ?

trisher Fri 22-May-20 18:32:08

I used to go barefoot all the time but one of the features of getting older seems to be cold feet. So I'm barefoot now while it's warm, in the house and my little garden. but I use slippers when it's cold.

TwiceAsNice Fri 22-May-20 18:35:13

Slippers or socks when it’s cold. Bare feet around the flat at the moment and walking on my balcony. Pop on sandals/flip flops when i go out

GrannyGravy13 Fri 22-May-20 18:37:26

Barefoot inside house and the garden most of the time, unless it is exceptionally cold.

TrendyNannie6 Fri 22-May-20 18:39:30

Never go bare lol slippers in the house, sandals outside, depending on the weather

tanith Fri 22-May-20 18:50:36

Barefoot or flip flops in the house and garden. Love the feel of grass underfoot.

MissAdventure Fri 22-May-20 19:03:11

I was just remembering that feeling from childhood. Scrunching my toes up on the grass. smile

SueDonim Fri 22-May-20 19:34:36

I always have something on my feet, I don’t like being bare-footed. The spider issue looms large for me but also I think it’s the result of having been brought up in freezing cold houses where bare feet risked frost bite.

Alishka Fri 22-May-20 19:40:16

shudder...those far off days of freezing houses and frost patterns on the inside of the bedroom windows...

Puzzler61 Fri 22-May-20 19:52:16

Sliders or go-walks in good weather; shoes or walking boots in bad weather.
My husband can’t bear to see my feet - he says they’re the ugliest part of me!
I have bad bunions and never summoned up courage to ask for them to be removed.
