How much is a loaf of bread?

I bought an unsliced large seeded loaf from Sainsbury and at breakfast DH said ' this is nice how much is it?' 'Not the faintest' I replied. It used to be the sort of thing people kept an eye on- does anyone here without looking know what the price of their bread is?

My half loaf was 80 pence yesterday in Tesco. I also noticed that a bag of sugar was less than it was forty years ago!

No idea. OH likes food shopping and cooking grin

The loaf we buy is £1.05. Would love to eat posh bread but can not tolerate seeds.

Well......gf bread is a blinking fortune! DH's is about the same price for a huge loaf.

I remember going to the coop for my mum and a loaf was 10d.

I know! I know, Miss!! but only because I had to pop into the shop yesterday, just for bread
£1.49 for a sliced white bloomer

I have no idea either. My DH works in the local Co-op three days a week and does all my shopping. What a lucky woman I am.

The only price I know is my fortnightly treat from the local bakery of a cheese and Marmite loaf at £2.50.

I think last time I bought Sainsburys multiseeded bread it was about £1.47. It’s delicious. I usually freeze half of it, as we don’t eat a lot of bread these days. I also buy tiger bread because it keeps well - about 75p for a small bloomer.

I must be a bit of a tight wad! I wouldn't dream of buying a loaf of bread without knowing how much it cost. We are not hard up but for years we were. Old habits and all that.

Bought a sliced loaf in Tesco this morning for £1.35.

I buy the seeded bread and it depends where I buy it from,it ranges from 79p in Aldi to £1.45 in Sainsburys.
I do split them though and freeze half.

My partner does our grocery shopping so I only have a vague idea. I think the small warburtons sliced brown loaf he eats is 80p.

I rarely eat bread, it is usually a weekend treat and then I prefer a nice bap. About 75p for a pack of 6.

All home made here. Either spelt sourdough or a keto recipe

I try to buy our bread in an independent local bakery, they have put their prices up 3 times this year. A small white bloomer is £1.20, a small multi seed is £1.55.

Sometimes I buy the Aldi best of both (GC like it) and I think it's about 56p.

Small sliced Hovis wholemeal - 89p

MawBroon Fri 21-Sep-18 10:12:42

£2 for a sliced white sourdough which I keep in the freezer and take one slice at a time.

85p for a small Hovis granary in Tesco - DGS eats the dry crust for a treat ?

I'm with KatyK - it must be nice to have enough money to not even notice the cost of a loaf of bread sad

JessK Fri 21-Sep-18 11:11:02

We have a local bakery and some of their loaves are over £2.50. OK if it's for something special but not every day toast and the like.

No idea, DH makes it in the breadmaker using Waitrose flour. I know our local bakers are quite pricey, so I think he saves us a lot of money.

No idea these days. I can remember buying a miniature Hovis loaf for 2d when I was a child - I'd eat it on it's own with no butter. I love Sainsbury's multi seeded loaf too especially when it's fresh - it's nutty and chewy - yummy with thick butter. No wonder clothes don't fit any more blush

Anniebach Fri 21-Sep-18 11:24:50

No idea, haven’t bought bread for over ten years.
