Hi!Hi! What on Earth is the World coming to? Firstly, the weather was just as gloomy today, dull, wet and cold;
secondly, City lose to Southampton: thirdly, today we hear that Victoria has had its worst day of Covid statistics;
fourthly, the Victoria/NSW border has been closed in both directions!. 127 more cases yesterday and 2 elderly deaths. sad

Grandmabatty; I think I’ve worked out “drookit” as in “drookit to the skin!” You’ve already made progress with my knowledge of the Scots language; (note I didn’t say “Scotch”). Hoots mon, now we must move on to pronunciation, which has been the bane of my life and spoiled my enjoyment of “Taggart”! Dr. Google must have a cure for it.!
Ellan; “Twinkle-Toes” came to mind when I was watching our multicultural TV channel over the weekend when Ladies ice skating came on. It said” ladies”, but Gold, Silver, Bronze went to three 15 year old Russian girls.
Boy!; could they skate and their pirouettes etc were magnificent for the height and number of rotations they achieved. I lost count!
I’d buy the sea- gulls an ice-cream if they promised to leave my chips alone! Horse-radish sauce? No thanks, even if it was blowing a blizzard! Only tomato and barbeque here!
Megs; This is probably a stupid question; (we’re encouraged to ask them in computer class), but why the 2 month wait for the barber? Mine works solo and is working only on Fridays and Sats.,but only needs a week’s booking; maybe his customers are hanging on to their thatches in this Wintry weather.! hmm
No phone call from Granddaughter that she’d promised, so I phoned her , but could only talk to her answering M/c. She’s a full-time hospital nurse working with elderly patients, so probably run off her feet!
Our Council lady in charge of our “Oldies” shopping outings rang at 9.00 am ,( didn’t mention she’d woken me up!), to say that partial service will soon be resumed; only 3 passengers due to “distancing” and only 1 hour in shopping centre. I said not just now after my recent skirmish with BPPV, but that bus trip will probably be postponed again following the Premier’s proclamation. sad
rafichagran My dear Vera always had a Pimms whenever we dined out, and it was always a real comedy to order one from the bar when only students were serving. First it was, “what was that?” followed by a discussion with a more senior member of staff, presumably including as to what type of glass to serve it in!. But they were experts at pulling a glass of beer or even cracking open a bottle of wine and pouring just sufficient into the glass so as not to rise above the “plimsoll” line! grin
Happy days!

Good day today and a positive first message. Notified of a small tax refund and this. Pity it's 6 years late!

Good afternoon /evening Rufus2. Well done with drookit! Soaked to the skin it is. Next one for you is dreich. Again weather related. And the pronunciation is dreech with the ch as in Loch. Scotch is never people but always whisky. Please don't say 'hoots mon' I don't know a scot who has ever said! ☺ It's jam making season for me. Apricot made and raspberry made. I'll make gooseberry soon, my favourite, and rhubarb and ginger. I give most of it away. Today I was babysitting my grandson and pottering about in the house and garden. One of my lovely neighbours gave me a plant for a new bed in the front so it's been bedded in and watered. I'm feeling more like myself today. Yesterday I was achy with rheumatism. I'm off to have a cuppa. Take care x

Hi Rufus, wait for barber is because he’s still shielding and only one outing a day not to shops or other people’s homes , rules changed over the weekend with pubs and restaurants open. Unfortunately those shielded have more restrictions still until August 1st. Hope things may change a bit before that.
I guess your granddaughter has been worked off her feet, hope you hear soon.
Sensible to keep away from shopping centres for a while, I think everyone need to use a bit of sense where health problems are concerned.

Take care

Good Evening all, bit late replying tonight.

Did you choose your doona yet, Rufus?
Stay snug, warm and safe.

Callistemon Hang on! You know that "when a gentleman says he will do something, he will! You don't have to keep reminding him every 6 months!" hmm
Actually, I'm paralysed with procrastination over doona, duvet, quilt, protector. A doona goes inside a quilt, bought separately, (true?) but what weight? Decisions!

I was just wondering what a 'doona' was. Some sort of duvet (or downie as the used to be called )?
I bought my DGS a weighted blanket to help with his sleep pattern. It has a heavy inner quilt filled with tiny glass beads and that fits inside a cover with a furry side and a silky side. It works too. He says he feels like he's being safely cuddled all night.

Gee whizz Jane Forget the Doona/Duvet, I want one of those! I haven't felt safely cuddled for ages! hmm
And which side goes where if I sleep in the "nuddy"? confused

Well, what about a summer/winter doona?
Or perhaps they call them All Seasons duvets?
That sounds ideal for Melbourne weather! 🌞🌨🌩🌫🌬⚡❄☔
