Lovely! Just went out to check the sunflowers after a morning of thunderstorms, and there it was.

Callistemon Mon 10-Aug-20 16:03:20

How lovely!

My sense of smell is not what it was sad

Did you win with the sunflowers? Mine are going over a bit now.

Callistemon Mon 10-Aug-20 16:04:20

thunderstorms oh, really?
We haven't had any yet although it seemed thundery earlier today.

phoenix Mon 10-Aug-20 16:10:39

Callistemon "judgement day" is August 15th, but one of mine is starting to "go over" so I measured it yesterday. 8ft 6" ( from soil level to the top of the petals), and submitted photo and measurements.

I've got another one nearly as big, might be bigger by 15th!

Here in North Devon it has been thunder and rain all day, until about an hour ago. I know the storm has passed, as the mogs have decided to go out! grin

lemongrove Mon 10-Aug-20 16:11:47

I can’t smell rain ......if only! We are desperate for a break in this sultry heat.

Callistemon Mon 10-Aug-20 16:14:23

Oh! Well your are bigger than mine ? ????
Only 6' 6"

My head started aching a couple of hours ago, sign of a thunder storm, it was very humid too, but seems to have passed by and there's a fresh breeze.

AGAA4 Mon 10-Aug-20 16:16:43

I love the smell when rain has fallen after a hot dry spell.

phoenix Mon 10-Aug-20 16:17:59

Callistemon mine seem to have multiple heads as well ? mutants!

Lemongrove very sultry here yesterday, and Friday and Saturday for that matter! Storms earlier, but sunny skies again now!

Bathsheba Mon 10-Aug-20 16:28:01

Am I the only one who had to look up that word? Never heard it before confused. Glad it exists though - that lovely, very distinctive smell needed its very own descriptive word smile

We've had several claps of thunder over the last couple of days - the accompanying rain this morning was absolutely torrential. Wonderful to watch from the safety of the living room - though now I wish I'd just gone out and stood in it!

BlueBelle Mon 10-Aug-20 16:30:44

Still very very hot and dry in the east lovely jubbly

Callistemon Mon 10-Aug-20 16:31:27

We only have one headed ones here.

phoenix Mon 10-Aug-20 16:33:46

Bathsheba I knew there was a word fot, but couldn't remember what it was, had to ask Madam, aka the Amazon Echo on the kitchen table!

Many years ago, when with each and we'd had a long not spell of weather, the most fabulous storm broke, and as we lived in a secluded spot, I was actually able to go out and dance naked in the storm blush it was the most glorious feeling!

phoenix Mon 10-Aug-20 16:34:37

For it! Not "fot"!

Bathsheba Mon 10-Aug-20 16:36:42

Wow that must have been wonderful Phoenix. I'm not sure my neighbours would approve if I followed suit, and if there were any horses around I'm certain they'd be frightened grin

phoenix Mon 10-Aug-20 16:42:19

It was, Bathsheba blissfull! As said it was looong ago, I was slender then, wouldn't do it now!

phoenix Mon 10-Aug-20 16:43:43

Callistemon a bit very good photo of my mutant sunflowe!

phoenix Mon 10-Aug-20 16:47:48

"Not" not "bit"!

timetogo2016 Mon 10-Aug-20 17:01:09

Not growing anything except hair, but love the smell of Petrichor.
Always have and my Dh sadly can`t smell it as he lost his sense of smell years ago.

Callistemon Mon 10-Aug-20 17:02:18

It looks more healthy than mine!

Callistemon Mon 10-Aug-20 17:04:20

Clouding over again, I think you sent this over, phoenix!
☁️☁️☁️
No sign of ⛈

phoenix Mon 10-Aug-20 17:51:01

looks can be deceptive, Callistemon some of the leaves have been munched pretty well!

No, didn't send the clouds, don't have those sort of powers!I

timetogo2016 My hair grows like a weed! Trying to decide if to let it carry on, or get it chopped again.

Kate1949 Mon 10-Aug-20 19:15:26

Bathsheba I had to look up the word too. I've never heard it.
Yours truly
Thick Brummie grin

phoenix Mon 10-Aug-20 21:28:17

Kate1949

Not thick at all, after all its not the sort of word in every day use!

Bit like concupiscience.........grin

Although I'm not quite sure I've spelled that right!

Grandmafrench Mon 10-Aug-20 21:43:26

Nearly, Phoenix but you don't need the second
'I'. (Do you recall needing that word after dancing in the rain?)

Jaxjacky Mon 10-Aug-20 21:51:24

Phoenix when it chucks it down here, forecast Wednesday, I’m out, buck naked, if the neighbours crane out of their bedroom windows, who cares!! I’m s. Hampshire, it’s baking!!
