This is from the book I am currently reading:

With thousands of lights and decorations donated from local businesses and local citizens hanging from its thick branches, people came from all over the surrounding areas to enjoy its wonder.

I just can’t get the image out of my head of local citizens hanging from the tree. Is it just me?

I always enjoyed the poster outside a local church hall advertising
'Huge baby clothing sale'.
It came out every year. I always hoped to spot one or two of those huge babies.

The trend of self publishing has made people like my book editor friend redundant and it is so annoying

I spend an awful lot of Kindle time sending in corrections of bad grammar, wrong homonyms and typos. If only someone with a decent grasp of English had read the books before they were published. Of course, some of the errors have crept in during the transcription to ebook process, but the same comment applies - they need checking!

Every time someone talks about grooming their cockapoo I see a parrot and wonder why you would groom a bird.

I once read, in a Margaret Atwood book, surprisingly - “she went to the end of the street and turned into a chemist shop”
