Dilation pumpkins carved by midwives at Royal Oldham.

That hurts!! Xx

moggiek Thu 21-Oct-21 19:36:30

Love it ??

Marydoll Thu 21-Oct-21 19:37:24

Ouch. No wonder being a size 10, giving birth to a 9lb 3oz baby was extremely painful! ?

PollyTickle Thu 21-Oct-21 19:37:28

The 10cms brings back memories at both ends, ouch

Callistemon Thu 21-Oct-21 19:37:38

???
(I wasn't laughing at the time!)

PollyTickle Thu 21-Oct-21 19:39:23

Screaming Callistemon, definitely screaming

PollyTickle Thu 21-Oct-21 19:41:07

Not sure dress size counts!

GrannyGravy13 Thu 21-Oct-21 20:25:50

Oh dear ??????

Marydoll Thu 21-Oct-21 20:27:04

Size 10, narrow hips and tiny, I do think it counts!

Urmstongran Thu 21-Oct-21 20:36:58

It’s shoe size Marydoll. It gives an indication of the size of your pelvis.

Great post WWmk2!

Smileless2012 Thu 21-Oct-21 20:40:11

Great picture WWmk2

Bridie22 Thu 21-Oct-21 20:40:52

They are brilliant! Ouch !

Harris27 Thu 21-Oct-21 20:49:12

Very good made me smile!

PollyTickle Thu 21-Oct-21 20:54:51

I’m also size 10 and narrow hips, actually that should read I was size 10, a long time ago.
Three boys, 8lbs, 7lbs 8oz and a bruiser at 10lbs, they all felt like sh***ing a watermelon. So you’re possibly right. We’ll have to wait for a size sixteen mum to say how much difference it makes.
The fourth was by caesarean, bliss at the time but worse after.

Millie22 Thu 21-Oct-21 21:08:02

I'm feeling sorry for the pumpkins. It's not what they expected to happen.

???

Marydoll Thu 21-Oct-21 21:11:24

Ah well, we are all different. Baby number one got stuck, should have had a section, but too late. Very traumatic. Affected later births and an eventually a hysterectomy.
Not engaging any more and I'm sure you will understand why.

sodapop Thu 21-Oct-21 21:17:43

Made me smile WWmk2 ? did bring back a couple of cringey memories though. Episiotomy was quite usual I think in the 60s - ouch

PollyTickle Thu 21-Oct-21 21:33:42

Pumpkin soup will never taste the same again.

Witzend Thu 21-Oct-21 21:35:56

??

Grandmajean Thu 21-Oct-21 21:41:20

Have to comment / boast on this one.

Four foot ten , size six , size three shoe.
First baby - two weeks early 6lbs 3 - five hour labour - no stitches

Second baby - two weeks early 6lbs 10 - two hour labour - no stitches

crazyH Thu 21-Oct-21 21:45:02

Boast away Grandmajean - I am green with envy ?

Grandmajean Thu 21-Oct-21 22:00:30

To be fair to all who had a terrible time , I'm not boasting as we have no control over how easy or difficult childbirth is for any woman . I was just lucky ( or am built like a tank inside ! )

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 21-Oct-21 22:16:00

Aaaggghhh!!!!!! I have no words…

Kalu Thu 21-Oct-21 22:41:38

DH asking why I am laughing…..well, I had to share!
His face was almost 7cms ?

Thank you for this post WWmk2 and well done OR midwives.
