Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but dry outside at the moment in Brackley this morning.
Today will be a quiet day as regards to doing things , an early small shop , and then have a lazy day so to speak.
Take Care,
Mick

Flossiebo Wed 08-Dec-21 06:11:28

Good Morning Mick and everyone else!
It's still a wee bit blowy and wet here, but I think we got off lightly with this latest storm here in Teesside.
Thank you for the welcome Kalu and Marydoll.
I am waiting for someone to come and repair my fence this morning, then popping up to see my dad and hang some new curtains for him and deliver his shopping.
I have a campervan and discovered a leaking roof light in it yesterday, so that's another job to look forward to!
Hope everyone stays well and warm today ?

grandMattie Wed 08-Dec-21 06:12:47

Good morning from a dry E Kent. After yesterday’s horrible weather, we are even promised a little sunshine ☀️! Enjoy your lazy day, Mick.
Things didn’t go well for me yesterday, starting with an icy cold hall for tai chi. The caretaker eventually came to sort it out, but it was still too cold to exercise without our coats on. We retired early to the pub for our restorative cuppa!
Then… when going to the supermarket, the automatic garage door decided to hit me on the head, leaving me with a large lump and headache. I then snapped at poor DH who was trying to be nice to me and burst into tears. Not a good day.
I hope today will be better.
One good thing. The consultant was happy at how Iris’s wounds are healing. An X-ray in January and the possibility of no splint! Her new seasonal plaster looks like a candy cane to me. ?
May today bring ease to those in sorrow, pain or anxiety. Carpe diem. ????

Pantglas2 Wed 08-Dec-21 06:15:48

Good morning all from a windy Wales where I’m snuggled up with a steaming chamberpot....☕️?

Thank you for your birthday greetings- we had the most marvellous time in York with the Xmas market, Jorvik and Dungeons (frightened the life out of me, wuss that I am?). Weather a little inclement but cheered up with lashings of mulled wine and the best little eateries ? - no chains, just family run, friendly folks!

Birthday greetings to shelbel and any other ?? I may have missed and ?to those in the sick bay Mr Oops the latest intake!

Greetings to Ena Sharples and any other newbies - this is the loveliest thread for setting you up for a good day?

Will catch up with all your Christmassy bizzinesses later....x

Ashcombe Wed 08-Dec-21 06:20:17

Good morning, Mick and all who follow from a dry and calm Torbay! Wind is forecast for later …. outside!! ?

Yesterday, I spent a happy few hours with the props team, cutting up newspaper to make bundles of “money” in readiness for The Ladykillers which opens with a charity performance on Saturday. For each play, we offer the preceding Saturday to the week long run to any charity which would like to sell tickets for our final Dress Rehearsal. It gives the cast the chance to have an audience whilst enabling our company to maintain its charitable status.

I’m sorry you had such a poor day yesterday, grandMattie but the news about Iris is heartening! Let’s hope today is better - how is your DS with the injured hand?

Welcome to Flossiebo! You'll find this daily thread a friendly and supportive place, I hope. ?

Happy hump day! ?????

grandMattie Wed 08-Dec-21 06:24:12

Ash, DS1 is seeing the consultant tomorrow, so we’ll have more news on his hand, and, more importantly, whether he can come home for Christmas. Thank you for asking.
Hope your play goes well and the money ? is sufficient… ❤️

BlueSapphire Wed 08-Dec-21 06:32:53

Good morning everyone from a still dark and, I think, dry Northampton. Hoping it stays that way as the reason for me being up so early is that I have a hair appointment at 9am.

Then home, to get a few jobs done, and finish off my Sainsbury's order for tomorrow. Tonight a friend and I are going to a performance of A Christmas Carol, complete with a magic lantern show. It's a local theatre group production at our community centre, so not far to go.

Had a good afternoon yesterday with my walking group; friend and I decided we weren't going to walk in the rain, but some brave souls did! So we repaired to the cafe and chatted with another non-walker until the group arrived back soaking wet, then we had our drinks and mince pies with clotted cream - yummy!

Hope all is well with everyone this morning.

Urmstongran Wed 08-Dec-21 06:39:46

Matt’s cartoon (while the kettle’s boiling). x

Scentia Wed 08-Dec-21 06:43:35

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where it is blowing a hoolie and very wet ?
I went all my length in DD bathroom yesterday I actually did the splits and I am now limping like a ‘good un’
I will never be pain free I am sure of it, just as I get one thing sorted something else comes along to knock me back.
DGS was so helpful though, he sat with me as I fainted from the sudden intense pain and was really sweaty, he ran to get me a biscuit to make me feel better❤️ Don’t know who has given him that habit of biscuits make you feel better?
I am considering buying a pair of crutches from Argos as I seem to ALWAYS have something that is impinging my mobility.
Sorry for being a negative ninny this morning ❤️

Ashcombe Wed 08-Dec-21 06:48:41

That sounds painful, Scentia, but biscuits sound comforting!
?for your DS1, grandMattie.
Urmstongran: you might like to post that cartoon on this thread about candles:-

brook2704 Wed 08-Dec-21 06:55:23

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s dark but dry. I think we escaped the worse of Storm Barra here yesterday but hope everyone else is further south ok and not too battered.
Sorry to hear you got a whack on the head yesterday grandMattie, that’s painful, hope the lump has gone down now. I love Iris seasonal splint though - looks good and fingers crossed your DS gets home for Christmas
Blummin heck Scentia you poor thing! Pleased the biscuit helped though, it’s the same in our house with biscuits to make you feel better!
I’m up fairly early today as I’ve got an 8am appointment at the covid drive through test centre for a PCR test after I got a +ve lateral flow yesterday - think I might have picked it up on my travels. So far though just mild symptoms so I’m hoping it stays that way.
Welcome to Flossiebo I hope you enjoy micks GM thread
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings ?

Jaxjacky Wed 08-Dec-21 06:56:41

Good morning all, from a dry S Hants. We escaped lightly yesterday but there was coastal flooding.
Welcome Flossiebo, hope you get your leak sorted. I like the strategy of your theatre group Ashcombe break a leg as they say which leads me too….Iris and her festive leg. Good news for her gMattie, not such a brilliant day for yourself. I hope your head isn’t too sore and today is an improvement, ? for your son.
Matt very funny Urms!
Busy day looming, an early drive, garden bin to be filled with last tidying, lunch with a friend, ears to be micro-suctioned and checking for drives required on the voluntary phone.
Enjoy your Wednesday those who can. For others in pain, sad or just a bit down, may you see some ??and ??.

Urmstongran Wed 08-Dec-21 07:00:01

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s dark and rainy quite heavily. Actually looks a bit sleety on the windows. Brr!

My day has similarities with yours today BlueSapphire! I have a 9:30am hair appointment at a salon I’ve not been to (for colour anyway). Can’t decide what I’d like hopefully some expert advice will point me in the right direction. Once home I need to make an Hungarian goulash a lá Delia for tonight. Then out before 3pm to pick the grandchildren up from school as our daughter (last year’s Covid warrior) has an appointment for her booster jab (she is 41y this month so it’s good to see how the programme is cracking on).

Once home it’ll be a quick change and friends from Bolton are coming over to eat with us and they like to start off in one of our local bars first.

It’s almost a Scentia Day!

Great news about Iris grandMattie I love the candy cane plaster. Sorry to hear about the bang to your head. I had similar years ago I think I saw stars. It was awful.

Hope Wednesday is good to us all. Enjoy it those who can. Who knows - EV might be back amongst us soon with a bit of luck and a good push.

Oh the photo. It’s from yesterday. Camilla met the 102 year old actress - June Spencer - who played Peggy Woolley in ‘The Archers’. The cake was to celebrate 70y of the radio programme. Doesn’t June look marvellous? There’s hope for us all!

Jaxjacky Wed 08-Dec-21 07:00:14

Crumbs Scentia that sounds like a shock and painful. Basically a bit of a b****r. May today bring cheer.

Beechnut Wed 08-Dec-21 07:03:18

Good Morning everyone from dark Severnside.

I thought you’d been making Christmas stockings Mattie until I realised it was Iris’s leg. Good news though but not about your head…awch, and you Scentia take it steady today.

Welcome to Flossie and Ena.

I’ve something to do for my brother today so that will keep me out of trouble for a few hours. After that I hope to tidy up my admin and get some bills paid. I think I’ll make some withered carrot soup. I’ve had them a couple of weeks.

Have the best day you can all, worries a plenty out there.
Don’t go spending all that ‘mine’ at once Ash ??

Beechnut Wed 08-Dec-21 07:04:07

Good joke Urm.

Gagagran Wed 08-Dec-21 07:06:14

Morning all from a dry (the clouds wrung themselves out yesterday) but breezy south coast. Hope your painful splits injury soon eases Scentia - a big ouchie!

Yesterday was a monsoon day with wild winds and torrential rain /hail, here on the south coast. I managed my Nurse appointment before the rain started and was pleased to find that my leg ulcer has finally got a scab on it. The nurse bandaged it again though to ensure healing continues but hopes that next week she may be able to sign me off.

I had my hair appointment as the winds picked up and as I got back out to the car afterwards, the rain started but not at its height until I left for my WI lunch at noon. Wow! What a deluge by then.

Managed to park near the main entrance with a quick sprint to the hotel so only got slightly damp and soon dried off in the warm and festive interior. A lovely meal in great company and went home, in semi darkness and heavy rain but had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Today is planned to be a quieter day for me - not used to socialising like this after the past two difficult years!

Good news about Iris, Mattie - you must be pleased things are going in the right direction for your brave little girl and fingers crossed that your DS gets home for Christmas.

Sounds as if York was as wonderful as ever Pantglas. A great birthday treat!

Hope the day is a good one for us all sunshine

Beechnut Wed 08-Dec-21 07:08:19

‘money’

Nannagarra Wed 08-Dec-21 07:09:43

Good morning. I write good morning but I sometimes post in the afternoon as did others yesterday. I’d like to join in extending a warm welcome to Ena Sharples and to Flossiebo.
The storm continues to rage in Lancashire. If you’re reading this, Amselerin, I hope you’ve settled in this part of the country and have a happy new home. Healing thoughts are heading your way, Scentia and yours GrandMattie, for you, Iris and your DS1. What a star Iris is. Belated birthday wishes are sent to Pantglas2 and shelbel.
It’s badger be gone (hair dye) day today, then school pick up followed by an evening swim. Whatever you’re doing, find a smile and a flamingo everyone.
???

monk08 Wed 08-Dec-21 07:13:04

Good morning all from a wet and windy Black country.
Mums and toddlers this morning and ironing when I return. Didn't get a better invite yesterday so my tree is up and decorated, just need some chocs to hang on it for the Dgs's (and me).
Loving the festive leg, and hope your head not to sore grandMattie.
Will catch up later with everybody's news.
Enjoy your Wednesday and may you all find some ?.

Urmstongran Wed 08-Dec-21 07:14:42

Good gracious Scentia that sounds a horrid accident. I hope you are not hurting and limping for too long. Honestly you and grandMattie were like a tag team in Billy Smart’s circus yesterday.

Good idea about the cartoon Ashcombe give everyone a laugh! Thanks for the link.
?

Nannagarra Wed 08-Dec-21 07:15:34

Snap Urms - hair colour and goulash!
I’m so hoping the Crumpet Queen appears…

cornergran Wed 08-Dec-21 07:28:20

Morning Mick, morning All from a noisy, windy and wet corner of Somerset

Discovered our new dentist is both young and charming. Even better neither of us are in need of his skills, a definite relief. It seems our Littlest was demanding food yesterday, sounds as if he’s turned a corner.

Hello to ena and flossie. Goodness Scentia and grandMattie, please be careful out there. Sounds a good birthday break pantglas, we’ve never got to York, must put it on our ever growing list of places to visit.

It’s wild outside after a very noisy night, coastal flood warnings in place we have no plans to be anywhere other than indoors. Grocery order will appear and there’s dust removal to do before curling up with a book.

Take care everyone. Hope Wednesday is gentle with us all.

Sar53 Wed 08-Dec-21 07:33:05

Good morning from Essex by the sea where it is starting to get light.
What a catalogue of disasters this morning, I hope everyone is back to fitness tomorrow.
I love the cast on Iris's leg, very festive?.
Carys, my 10 year old granddaughter, had 12 inches cut off her hair yesterday to be made into wigs for poorly children. A big deal for her but we are all so proud of her and she looks lovely with her shorter hair.
I'm off to my sewing group this morning then a small food shop.
DH is again going to London to meet up with some old work colleagues.
Welcome to all the new posters.
Have a great Wednesday everyone and stay safe xx

Marydoll Wed 08-Dec-21 07:36:17

Good morning all from a slightly warmer Glasgow, its 4° today!
No plans for today, numbers here are rising at an alarming rate, so I need to stay put but not waste time on GN. wink
My main task is to find the missing M&S festive gin, I bought for DIL's Christmas. I have searched the house from top to bottom. We have a phantom gin guzzler, I suspect! ?

Sending my best wishes to all with worries and pain. GM, I feel for you. It was an altercation with my car boot last week that left me in tears. I had a headache for days. ?
Scentia, that sounds really painful, hopefully no serious damage was done. flowers
Brook, I have been thinking a lot of you, given my DD's positive result. I hope the results come back quickly. ?

Thank you all those who supported me on yesterday's thread last night and by PM, otherwise I don't think I would have posted here again. Your kindness reduced me to tears, when I was feeling quite down. It's an onward and upward day today, no wallowing allowed!
You really are the loveliest of people. ?
