The longest 2 minutes……..

I took delivery of a new washing machine yesterday, the second it stops you can open the door.
No more standing like a lemon counting down for the longest two minutes man has ever known.
It’s a life changer.
Oh the joy!

I know exactly what you mean, two minutes the machines lie, it’s usually closer to three + minutes ??

Mollygo Thu 26-May-22 14:20:32

Mine sings to me when it’s finished and ready to open up. I used to hate waiting.

I didn't know there was such a thing - can't wait for mine to die now so I can have one!

FarNorth Thu 26-May-22 14:27:54

Is this a particular problem for men?

That's a big plus Sago. Will look for that next time, also a short wash cycle. My present short cycle consists of two rinses instead of three. Misleading.
Like grannybags I wait for this one to die.

My washing machine is a Siemens shortest wash is 15 minutes with a choice of temperature and spin speed.

My new washer sings to me too!

I always have something to do while the washing is being done, so usually don't even notice half the time that the washing has actually finished!

Chocolatelovinggran Thu 26-May-22 15:36:59

Ooh I want one! Envy is a terrible thing.

My old washing machine also 'sings'... a sort of groaning and cheeping sound.

I think it's a swansong.

Thanks GrannyGravy13. I'll take note.

Anxiety ladies and gents, anxiety! confused

Hetty58 Fri 27-May-22 08:36:24

It's never bothered me - as I'm not ever waiting for it to finish. Do people really do that? I'll check back sometime later in the day.

I havent stood loitering by the washer waiting for it to finish all the time but there have been a few occasions when I have indeed given it the evil eye to HURRY UP, sooo infuriating, so how fantastic to have your new washer that when its finished.... ITS FINISHED... BRILLIANT.

Hallo, other Samsung washing machine owners. My Samsung sings to me to. Mine plays 'Die Forelle', 'The Trout' a song, later piano quintet, written by Schubert.

my shortist wash is 15minutes but the spin is only 800 so I have to give it another spin on 1200 or 1400..taking half an hour in all! not good

My shortest wash is the same, but I can increase the spin speed, though it adds about 5mins for each addition so short wash on fastest speed becomes 20-25 minutes.

Last washing machine was shortest wash 14 mins, this one is 20 mins I’m never waiting for it to finish though as I’m always doing other jobs at the same time

I have to go down to the laundry room in the cellar especially to see to the washing so it can be very annoying if it finishes just as I happen to be there but I have to wait until it lets me open it. I don't think it's 2 minutes but if you've got nothing else to do while you're down there it seems interminable.

My first automatic washing machine opened as soon as the washing cycle finished, It was a Hoover bought in 1970 and lasted for 20 years with a few repairs along the way.
At the time I intended to buy a twin tub priced at 72 guineas but the automatic was only 3 guineas dearer so I thought what the heck ! Bought on hire purchase I might add.
It was rather difficult to get hold of automatic washing powder, I used the ordinary one once and had soap suds all over the kitchen.
