Good morning from a grey E Kent. I hope it isn’t too hot. It’s very dry still and I’ve started to water the flower beds again, using my “leaky hose”.
DS noticed a mouldy area in the kitchen and we decided it was one of the showers leaking. Cue the lovely plumber who sent someone within 2 hours! Sorted very quickly. He’s a very thoughtful chap…
Paperwork today in preparation for registration tomorrow.
The Bish is calling to ask a few questions about DH; DD asked if he could say a few words at the funeral.
I have also booked a room at the Guildhall for tea and cake catered by my WI friends after the funeral.
Hope Marydoll is feeling a little better, and that those with sickness, sorrow and problems have an easier day. Carpe diem. ????

Good morning, all, from a dull and overcast Torbay.

Yesterday, I forgot to post on the GM thread! DH arrived safely from France on Tuesday evening and we decided to make the most of the sunny morning with a walk over the Downs then up to St. Marychurch for coffee.

After lunch, we went to Wednesday Club at the theatre where I gave a talk entitled A Traveller's Tales. Anecdotes about holiday mishaps from my childhood right up until our recent cruise were well received. In the evening we were back at the theatre for a rehearsal. olddudders read in for Herr Flick, who was absent, with a convincing German accent.

It sounds like the funeral plans for your DH are taking shape, grandMattie. I hope you are taking time to be kind to yourself and not do too much.

A good day to you all. ?????

Scentia Thu 07-Jul-22 06:55:54

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where it promises a nice day.
Goodness me Grandmattie I am so sad to read this news this morning. I don’t come into Michael’s post all that often now and I missed all of your heartache❤️
I am off to the farm with the DGC today so that will be fun!! The whole of playgroup are meeting up in the carpark to get a group rate on entry. I hope we can go round on our own after that as I don’t want to stay too long, I am not a farm/zoo kind of nanna. It’s the vegan in me?
Take care everyone and enjoy this warmer weather.

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 07-Jul-22 07:04:11

Morning all from West Oxfordshire and ???for GM. I really thought B Johnson would be gone overnight, but he’s still there! I am meeting my daughter at Heathrow today and we are flying off to Vienna for a short break. I will post updates if I can. Hopefully lots of sachertorte will be involved!

Grandmadinosaur Thu 07-Jul-22 07:04:32

Good morning all from East Yorkshire. It is overcast but warm.

Yesterday I had a long overdue eye test. I went to book one online to find one was available at 11 am. This was at 9.45 so must have been a cancellation. DH was it at meetings so I left him a note telling him where I was. He was upstairs in his office on calls when I got home and was a while before he was free. This is the conversation that followed
DH oh you’re feeling better you’ve been out then?
Me I’ve been to Specsavers didn’t you see my note?
DH. No where was it?

Me. Propped up against the microwave.

Not sure who it is who should have been for an eye test ?‍♂️ Thankfully my eyes haven’t changed much and I get my new glasses next week.

Watched the great match of tennis with Rafa winning through last night. Wow that man is a machine! More exciting tennis to come today with Cameron Norrie.

Take care everyone.

Have a lovely time in Vienna LLL. it’s somewhere on my list of places to visit.

NannyJan53 Thu 07-Jul-22 07:19:37

Good morning from a dull and cloudy Black Country, where it is forecast to warm up as the day goes on.

A walk at Baggeridge this morning, then onto Mums where we will go out for lunch. She thinks her sister may be joining us, but she is not sure as she phoned to tell Mum yesterday she would be over Thursday. Not sure if she meant today or next week!

Vienna is on my list too LLL - so many places so little time! smile

Wishing you all a good day, and hoping Marydoll is feeling better, and hugs to grandMattie

Good morning Mick, morning all from South Lanarkshire where, at last, the sun is shining.

Yesterday a friend called round for the last time before she moves hundreds of miles away. I’m going to miss her.

We are going to visit DS today, I’m not yet up to resuming childminding duties though. It’s an hour and a half each way so I’m hoping it won’t be too uncomfortable. Sitting in the car seems to squish my lower abdomen now.

Hoping Marydoll feels a little better and Kalu, great to hear that your DH is doing well.

Have the best day possible everyone.

kittylester Thu 07-Jul-22 07:23:52

Good morning all from a cloudy North Leicestershire.

Off to help at a memory cafe in town this morning and a Sainsbury's delivery this evening.

brook2704 Thu 07-Jul-22 07:25:04

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s bright and sunny.
We arrived home yesterday evening after a really lovely holiday, not very relaxing but active and enjoyable walking the coastline with the stunning little coves and villages to see. We’re going back in a few weeks time!
Today I’ll be out to check what’s been happening in the garden, had a quick look yesterday and everything seems to have grown such a lot - including the weeds
Hoping all goes ok with the funeral arrangements gMattie, I’ll be thinking of you
Good that olddudders is back with you Ash and a very well done with your talk - I bet it was very interesting!
Enjoy your trip to Vienna llfl it’s on my bucket list along with a lot more places
Enjoy your day Scentia sounds busy but fun!
Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings ?

cornergran Thu 07-Jul-22 07:29:27

Morning Mick, morning All from a warm, overcast corner of Somerset. We do seem to specialise in cloud.

Back to painting for me today. A door frame and far too much skirting. Mr C has a date with a lawnmower if it stays dry.

Thoughts are with gm and all having a tough time just now flowers. Hope Thursday is kind to us all.

Sar53 Thu 07-Jul-22 07:30:08

Good morning from Essex by the sea where it looks like we have had some rain overnight. I've woken up with a sore throat so I'm hoping that it won't morph into something worse ?☹.
I have to visit the Post Office this morning, take our Company accounts to our lovely Accountant and take two very large bags to the charity shop.
Cross stitch and tennis await later.
? for GM.
I must ring DD1 as its her 15th wedding anniversary today.
Enjoy Thursday everyone whatever you may be doing xx

Pittcity Thu 07-Jul-22 07:35:19

Good morning from an overcast Colchester.
We had a fabulous day at Wimbledon yesterday and slept well last night.
Being measured for carpets this morning. Laundry and housework as usual on Thursdays.
Love to all ? x

Marydoll Thu 07-Jul-22 07:39:01

Good morning all from a partly sunny Glasgow.

GM, I am glad to hear your arrangements are going well. However, I hope you are being gentle with yourself and resting.
The good news first, Dracula, managed to get some bloods yesterday and they were sent away immediately for analysis. Unfortunately, it was all downhill after that!

Can I make It clear, I am not looking for sympathy, but some understanding in case I am a bit off or am in absentia in the next few weeks.
I just need to offload, because DH's ostrich syndrome has reared it's ugly head again and he is reluctant to talk about this. I know he is afraid for me.

Frankly, I'm feeling a bit stunned just now. I had an hour-long telephone consultation with my GP, and a telephone consultation with the RA specialist nurse yesterday afternoon, the result an urgent gastroscopy referral and all my RA meds stopped immediately.
The stopping of meds, of course, has serious implications for my RA.
A whole can of worms has been opened, as my toxic biologics have apparently caused potentially serious problems to my mouth, oesophogus, stomach or internal organs, and I almost certainly have pernicious anaemia. Hence the excruciating pain, I am suffering.

It never rains, but it blooming pours. However, at least I have a reason for feeling so ill, so hopefully onwards and upwards now! I am trying to remain positive, but it’s not easy. As a taurean, I will do my usual and face it head on. It’s the only way for me to cope!
The GP, whom I don’t know well, was outstandingly kind and compassionate and understood exactly how I felt. I take back wholeheartedly, the nippie sweetie tag, I had unfairly attributed to her. She had certainly done her homework, prior to the phone call and had worked out what was possibly wrong.

The thing upset me more, was SIL overheard the whole conversation and told DD, before I had a chance. I wanted to tell her on her own. He thought he was helping.
DS1 one flies home from holiday today and I refrained from spoiling his last day, so I need to speak to both he and also DS2 and DIL, who have Covid. Surprisingly, I am glad, despite what I have said about the lodgers, that they are here, they have been very supportive.
I have covered up for so long and it’s a relief that they can see how unwell I am. DIL 1 suspects something is afoot, as she has been bombarding me with texts, asking how I got on at the doctor’s.

To add to my stress, the plumber has phoned to say he will be here over the next few days. We have only waited six weeks for him to appear, so I have no intention of sending him a way, despite the fact our water is going to be off and some of the work may be rather problematic and expensive. What is bothering me more, is I had an empty and was so looking forward to it!
I am off to get dressed, as I have no idea, when he will appear.
If only I could find my jeans, I think DD must have them. DH says I have hunners of clothes, why am I getting annoyed? It has to be those jeans, because my outfit has been planned in advance! ?
Shades of déjà vu, from when DD was at home. grin

My thoughts, prayers and virtual candles for all my fellow companions in the sick bay, and all those with sorrows in their life, I know many on here are suffering, but are not as loquacious as I am and need to spill the beans! . I hope you all have a gentle day ?

If you are out and about, have a great day. Vienna was on my bucket list! ?

Gingster Thu 07-Jul-22 07:46:20

Good morning all and we’ve had rain overnight here at the seaside in Suffolk.

We’ll yesterdays gazebo erecting went as expected - after an hour of trying to get the ‘pop up’ frame to pop up , we eventually found the problem. By then the wind had got up so putting the canopy onto the frame was nigh on impossible. Dh and I nearly got carried out to sea, holding on to it. ?.
Dh hates putting things together and isn’t a ‘handy man’ ?.
We gave up after an hour and a half and will wait for ds1 and family to arrive at the weekend to help. This was a ‘5 minute job’ .
Little does Dh know but I had a delivery of a fire pit/bar b q which needs putting together ?. . Why do I do it!!!!

Today we will shop and then settle down to watch the tennis.
Fabulous this year! I looked out for you yesterday Pittcity . Was it amazing!?

GM - take care! ?.

Hoping you all have a carefree day.?

Stilllearning Thu 07-Jul-22 07:49:11

Morning from cloudy S Lanarkshire. I’m off to Perth later to spend the weekend with a friend and ‘co-granny’ and this being Scotland, I’m still deciding whether to pack a jumper ‘just in case’.

Having spent large parts of yesterday glued to the television it will give my eyes a rest!

I’ll get on with my preparations, I seem to have reached the stage when anything out of my normal routine makes me slightly anxious, a bit discombobulating.

Thinking about everyone needing support and wishing everyone a good day ???

Jaxjacky Thu 07-Jul-22 07:50:00

Morning all from an overcast S Hants, enjoy Vienna llfl.
I think Norrie is tomorrow Grandmadinosaur? I hope so.
I’m out and about with a few things to get done in a short time as I’m on the volunteer phone too today.
Take care of yourself grandMattie May you have a ? in your day.
Have your best day all.

Gingster Thu 07-Jul-22 07:52:03

Marydoll ?. Keep that chin up!

Grandmabatty Thu 07-Jul-22 08:03:36

Good morning all from Polmont where it's 13° and sunny. The forecast is good for today and tomorrow. Marydoll I know you don't want sympathy, but you have mine with a big virtual hug. It's made more difficult for you when your dh won't talk about it. Sar I hope you feel better soon. Grandmattie I'm in awe of your fortitude.
Yesterday I visited mum who was ok but hadn't got dressed. She was hinting that I do some gardening but I refused to be drawn. My brother lives with her and does little. Then I visited a friend who I've known since we were six. That's 58 years ago! Dd sent a message to say dgs1 has ear infections in both ears now and is on different antibiotics. Poor wee man. Then my aunt sent a message to say her lovely big dog had not made it through surgery. Everyone is upset as he was such a special dog. So a day of ups and downs.
Today I have just had a delivery of a high chair for dgs2. The previous one had a fault so couldn't be used. More play sand for the sandpit and a train set for dgs1 to play with at Grandma's. I'll go and water the garden soon, put a washing on and make the gooseberry jam I've been threatening to since Tuesday. Have a good day all.

ShazzaKanazza Thu 07-Jul-22 08:07:33

Good Morning Mick and everyone.

grandMattie it’s good you have support as you prepare to say your final goodbye to your lovely man. Try to take those quieter moments for yourself?

Marydoll what to say! You couldn’t be going through more could you. Thankfully you have family and friends to lean on. ? unload all you want to us.

Today we are going over to York to see my Dad and take him for lunch. On the way we’ll call at a garden centre to get him one of his favourite steak pies. My step-mum is at work but it’s nice to get Dad to ourselves so he can chat away as Stepmum does tend to talk over him.

Hope our travelling friends have safe journeys and family visits are enjoyable and grandchildren give lovely cuddles.
Thinking of you all. ??

Grandmadinosaur Thu 07-Jul-22 08:08:56

Yes you are right jaxjacky it is tomorrow. Don’t know why I said it was today. Early morning not thinking straight!

Take care Marydoll ?

ginny Thu 07-Jul-22 08:18:05
