I wish I was 64!

Hetty58 Thu 26-Jan-23 00:05:05

Oh - so do I!

Read Jenny Joseph's well loved poem 'When I am old' and embrace your 64 years in the knowledge that you have at least another decade before you can call yourself 'old'.
I'm not far behind you (62) and see the next 10 years (if I'm lucky enough to get them) my 'warming up and winding down' to old age decade.
And at 72, it's on with the purple and the red hat!

Happy Birthday Aussie gran. I have changed the words of that song to ‘when I’m 84’, which is more appropriate to us and our friends!

Kim19 Thu 26-Jan-23 04:29:26

I'm trying to remember what that was like!

Oopsadaisy1 Thu 26-Jan-23 07:30:44

Oh yes I remember being 64…..

I also remember singing along with the song when it first came out and thinking “64? Crikey, that’s ancient”. How little we know.

Sparklefizz Thu 26-Jan-23 08:00:11

I read somewhere that we only view "old" as being 20 years older than ourself, whatever age we are.

Happy birthday AussieGran59 I am 70 later this year so 64 is a mere youngster smile

Strangely enough I have developed a penchant for purple (lavender) and red woolly hats. Oh! And cats.

Happy Birthday, Aussie Gran,flowerscupcake
64 is a mere girl, I'm a few months older than DH he reminds me every New Years Eve that I will be whatever the year the coming year, but it's not until the autumn, I laugh when his comes up just in the New Year and I call him my toy boy.

henetha Thu 26-Jan-23 09:26:06

Happy Birthday!
BTW I’d be quite pleased about being 64 - given that I’m going to be ten years on very soon! 😱

bluebird243 Thu 26-Jan-23 11:09:18

I'm 74 in a few weeks time too. Can't believe it.

When the Beatles were singing the song little did we know 2 of them wouldn't make it to 64. Loved George.

Enjoy your birthday.

Witzend Thu 26-Jan-23 11:13:39

I know, Bluebird - I often think, how can I possibly be 73? How can this have happened?
(Before anyone says it, I do know I’m lucky and that it’s better than the alternative!)
