You could have crackers on three days!

Maggiemaybe Tue 24-Nov-20 17:39:04

Or make your own?

I saved all the salvageable components of the many crackers we (or rather, the grandsons) cracked last year, and was going to resurrect them this Christmas with little quizzes and chocs inside. I guess they’ll wait till 2021.

I have 24 crackers bought over 2 years ( forgotI had the first ones) cheaply from our Christmas market. So take 2 out and save for another year. Could be a gap in the market for anyone wanting a bit of extra cash over Christmas to buy a box and split them.

I bought a cheap box of 12 for £3,99 from Robert Dyas - as midgey
said, use them on different days - we’ll use them on 25, 25,36,31,1 - by then we’ll know all the ‘jokes’ and plenty of plastic tat. The two left over will serve as decorations somewhere

Or even 24, 25, 26, 31, 1

I thought all crackers were for 2 people. Sorry, couldn't resist ?
We love crackers and crack at least 2 per couple.

I had exactly the same problem. I couldn’t find any at all. Then sorting out a drawer in the dining room, I found crackers left from last year, so that was OK, but I don’t there is such a thing. I looked everywhere.

As there will be just two of us for Christmas, I have bought a box of 6 luxury crackers:
1 each on Christmas Day
1 each on Boxing Day
1 each on New Years Day.

They look so pretty on the table, colour coordinated with my table wear, napkins and candles.

I bought a box a very expensive crackers in Waitrose that was reduced to just £5. We have 2 every year and still have 3 years to go.

We were always 10 for Christmas dinner. Most crackers came in boxes of 12. So I have lots of 2s ?

Glad I’m not the only one with a reserve of crackers! ?

Mapleleaf Thu 26-Nov-20 22:29:23

I've got a reserve, too. ?
Very cost effective! ?

We love crackers! We have them at random times festivities. Last year I bought some expensive Laura Ashley ones for a song in the same,s and will be using their this year.

Otherwise, there are plenty of packs of four or six around so you could use two and store the others for subsequent years.

These are cute and with a worthwhile gift. www.cathkidston.com/en-gb/prints/shop-by-print/festive-party-animals/105869417520102.html?glCountry=GB&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIxvSQva2h7QIV_xkGAB0HeAQIEAQYASABEgLMXvD_BwE

It's compulsory to wear the hat from the cracker.

Yes! Killing act for the French, like the Brussels sprouts.

Does anyone else have a competition to see who keeps their paper hat on the longest? grin

If that was me I'd look online and buy two individual and expensive crackers containing something worthwhile which would also serve as part of a present.
It's the kind of thing I'd have done years ago if there hadn't been a huge family to cater for. As it was, I used to spend out for decent crackers even then.

I wonder if it’s possible to pull a cracker on one’s own? I have visions of maybe dislocating a shoulder as your arms go flying apart. ?
