Covid: What's the situation where you are?

Rates currently low on the Isle of Anglesey but thousands of holidaymakers have arrived from many areas of the U.K. so we have decided to stick to lunch in the garden with our closest friends who we know are as cautious as we are.
We’ll wait and see how things go at the end of the holiday season.
If I lived in an area that wasn’t full of tourists and had low covid rates I’d love to go and eat in a pub garden.
I hope you can venture out a bit FannyC, it’s nice to socialise and have a change of scenery.

I second that on the number of tourists here in Anglesey right now Laura Norder. We drove to Red Wharf Bay the other day for an outside drink at The Ship. It was absolutely packed and they were turning peeps away at the car park.

I think we'll be sticking to lunch in the garden for now as well.

Versailles. ate outside a restaurant with one of my DDs last night, we both felt weird walking along the streets without masks fully on, as from last Thursday we could chose whether or not to outside. She’s a darling as she still wears hers lower down so that if she is near someone wearing one covering nose and mouth, out of respect she puts hers on correctly. I do the same but she is a young person. We couldn’t eat too late as there still is an eleven o’ clock curfew on till Sunday. No foreign tourists yet. It was so good.

Surge testing is taking place in and around Reigate in Surrey this weekend due to rising numbers of the Delta variant. I hope over 18's take the opportunity to have a vaccine jab so this god awful virus doesn't have too many opportunities to mutate.

I'm in West Yorkshire, on the border but not across it to Kirklees, which is a high Delta zone. I don't suppose the virus knows to stop at the border.

I haven't been to a pub yet but that's because I can't remember the last time I went to one pre-plague.
I haven't been to a restaurant yet but that's because I'm trying to lose weight and lack self control in the face of a menu.
I've had coffees indoors and outdoors at Costa and others, very happy with that.
I mask in our market which is outdoors but often very crowded.
I'm using buses again.
I'm shopping more, though only for things I want, I never have been a hobby shopper.
I'm going back to volunteering in my local charity shop.
I've continued walking the dogs at the crack of dawn an often before it.
I'm testing twice a week because I'm going about and among more people than before and although fully vaccinated at the earliest applicable opportunity, I am concerned to avoid asymptomatically passing it on to others.

I would say my life is pretty much back to normal, apart from having and wearing a vast range of colour matching masks. One garment that always fits, whether my weight goes up or down. ??

I am in South of England and apparently the Delta variant is rising rapidly not just where I am but also surrounding areas.
We had cards put through our doors that they would be visiting our area from last Thursday onwards but so far nobody has knocked at my door (that was for the surge testing) I do my own tests anyway and had a negative test yesterday.

I was looking at maybe 20.000 Scots football supporters that have made there way to London although they had been asked to stay away no social distancing and no masks oh well
perhaps they think just let the virus rip through so irresponsible.

I brought up the presence and behaviour of the Tartan Army, so clearly I'm concerned.

I’m concerned about the influx of fans to Wembley and the pubs and clubs in the area for those with no tickets? Are you confident that there will be no transfer of the virus in either direction?

Deaths, hospital admittance and cases were all on the rise recently in our area of North West Surrey but appear to have flattened out again.

Our lives have pretty much returned to normal (apart from mask wearing indoors) although we tend to avoid crowded places. We've been shopping a few times but we go early before things get busy, as with our supermarket trips. We've had three weekends in Wales to visit family and stayed in hotels and will be going back for a longer visit once hotel/cottage costs reduce a bit. I did notice when we were out today that there were a lot more people not wearing masks than I usually see, especially younger people (younger as in twentiesish).

NE Scotland here. Cases just about quadrupled here this month but they’re coming down again now. I don’t know if there’s been a local outbreak in any one particular area but it’s a relief to see the numbers getting lower.

I'm sure they said 14 unless they said 40 % as I commented to my husband how lucky we were to get our second ones, it has been almost a month for us I think

the situation is dire at my youngest's school and I wish they'd just go to remote learning. Two of his friends are in self isolation now. After being so careful throughout I am wondering what was the point

I was concerned about this when it was reported that far more were coming down than had got tickets. Is it raining? That usually helps?

I don't really know of this is the right place for this comment, but I'm feeling very angry that our football fans seem to be behaving like idiots in London right now. I hope its just the way its being reported, but if they are being daft, they should be ashamed of themselves.

Cases are low in my area, and it’s very encouraging that hospitalisations and deaths are not anywhere approaching previous rates, and am out and about with more confidence now fully vaccinated. However Chris Whitty is reported as saying yesterday that just be aware that coronavirus has not thrown its last surprise at us. ie the fat lady hasn’t sung yet!

Cases are high in Scotland right now. If you look at the graph, the blue line is cases and the orange line is hospital admissions. Apart from right at the start, when everything was chaos, hospital admissions track cases pretty closely. But now, even though cases have gone high, hospital admissions are not following. I think its cause for optimism.

I’m in the south east, no idea what cases are doing as I’ve stopped looking. We go out for lunch/dinner as often as possible. Don’t take any notice of what other people are doing re masks, we’ve both had covid , are double vaccinated and have had a recent positive antibody test. I can’t wait for all the restrictions to be lifted.
