yogagran if I can do it anyone can, I have no co-ordination whatso ever, but I am loving it, I have been tonight and to be honest there are a few posey types but most of us are either old and over weight or both grin go on give it a go, you wont know unless you try. I was in two minds about joining but I wish I had done it earlier.

I love Zumba, been going since last September I think I am probably the worst in the class due to my dyslexic feet but I really enjoy it. The music is fantastic and everyone is too busy trying to do the right steps to notice what anyone else is doing and we all have big grins on our faces for the whole hour.

I thought about Zumba but was worried that I don't have the co-ordination for it. I used to go to a Rosemary Conley slimming class years ago and although I enjoyed the exercise class that went with it, I found that I was always a few moves behind everyone else or my arms were doing one thing while my feet another. Should I try Zumba...?? Also concerned that I would be the oldest wrinkly there amongst the slim lycra clad girls.

I've been doing Zumba for a few weeks and love it. I even tried a glass in France while on holiday.

A new class is just starting in my town next week, so I shall give it a go. I used to go to jive and absolutely LOVED it, so hoping I feel the same way about Zumba. Unfortunately it's on a Tuesday until 7.15pm and I'm hosting dinner parties at 7.30pm on the same night for the next two weeks. I'll have to do a Cinderella and leave 15 minutes early in order to dash home and get food on the table.

Glad you enjoyed it terrispirit I am loving it and it is a good idea to take your water with you.

Hi again,
Well I braved my first Zumba class yesterday... I was full of trepidation and told all the other girls I would be leaving after 10 mins. One Lady left early but the rest of us stuck the full hour. As for me... I loved it!!

Now it is fast pace and energetic and it does really make you sweat so take some water with you, but it's really good fun too. She covered dances like Salsa, Belly dancing hip-hop... that sort of thing. I found you are so busy concentrating on the dance moves, you don't realise you are exercising smile I hate any normal form of exercise class ie, aerobics, step etc but this just didn't feel like that sort of class at all and the time flew by. To be truthful I didn't jump about like the instructor did, but just paced my moves so I didn't burn out.

I did think that if I continued to go I would get a lot fitter so will probably try and find a class that suites me as the one I went to was only a "taster" session.

Go for it ladies.... if you like dancing I think you will enjoy this! :0 xx

Suuze

I have always enjoyed music and dancing and at the age of 74 have recently joined a class for beginners and over 50s called Zumba Gold which I love. It is great fun and really good exercise so suggest you do give it a try.

Hi Suuze
There is a thread about this on chat. I felt the same as you but glassortwo has been and says that it is suitable for all ages. I go to an over-50s Dance for Fitness class and that is energetic enough for me!

Suuze Sat 14-May-11 13:47:10

Has anyone tried zumba? I really fancy trying it but fear the class may be full of energetic perfectly toned 20-somethings - help?
