Talking Balls

Hi With the heavy snow this morning here in Rutland, decided to exercise indoors today using my swiss ball. Have had one for years but have found it has come in really handy since lockdown because you do not have to have loads of space. I have a lower back problem and find them a help with certain stability excercises. Anyone else a fan.

Yes, I have one. It used to be in our lounge for whenever I wanted to go on it but since before Christmas it’s been deflated and put back in box ?.
I liked it and I also had a back ache last year and it helped a lot for me (backache was due to lifting wrongly not a health issue). You now reminded me to blow it up again.....not manually though ??

Ok what's a Swiss ball?

MawBe Tue 26-Jan-21 08:48:17

Oh it’s a brave person who heads up a thread with this!
Could have applied in some other places.......grin

Yes, I have one. Didn't know what to do with it until a physio gave me exercises. I now use mine semi regularly, it is very good for core work.

I agree Maw. I thought it was about someone talking rubbish!!!
You can see I'm not au fait with exercise equipment. ?

When I saw the title under Diet I had visions of a ball saying "get off you big lump" grin

Whiff Tue 26-Jan-21 09:32:09

Spinnaker that's what my scales used to say to me years ago. ???

Charleygirl5 Tue 26-Jan-21 10:04:12

Tut tut, Marydoll and MawB I also join the club.

lemsip Tue 26-Jan-21 10:16:35

I thought it was about Ed Balls who was on bbc morninglive this morning..

annodomini Tue 26-Jan-21 10:22:39

Ditto, lemsip!

Callistemon Tue 26-Jan-21 10:23:29

I thought it was going to be about chocolate balls

Or balls which spoke to you and said encouraging things like 'my word, you've put on a bit in lockdown' or 'yes, your bum does look big in that'.

Off to investigate

Apparently an Italian creation from the 1960s

Oh yes, I think DD's got one.

Like a space hopper but without ears.

Callistemon Tue 26-Jan-21 10:25:34

Where did you find that photo of me, Lisagran?

Lisagran Tue 26-Jan-21 10:27:12

Yes, sorry, Callistemon, I should have asked you first.....

Kittye Tue 26-Jan-21 10:28:18

I also thought it was about Ed Balls. Never heard of a Swiss ball. It looks too much like hard work to me ?

Callistemon Tue 26-Jan-21 10:33:23

It's fine, Lisagran, I don't mind at all.
I have put on a couple of pounds in lockdown though.

Lisagran Tue 26-Jan-21 10:49:20

Get out your Swiss roll then, Callistemon - oops, no I mean Swiss ball.....

Gwenisgreat1 Tue 26-Jan-21 10:53:33

Don't have a swiss ball (or any other exercise ball, but I do love Rutland Skallagrigg!

Blossoming Tue 26-Jan-21 11:05:04

I have one, was advised to get one by my physio. Very good for working the core and improving balance.

Charleygirl5 Tue 26-Jan-21 12:22:23

Blossoming I have a feeling I would be balancing on the floor and the Swiss ball would be elsewhere- for me it would be lethal.

Chewbacca Tue 26-Jan-21 12:33:18

I had no idea the Swiss were famous for balls. Everyday's a school day on GN.

I declined to try DD's for the same reason but I do wonder if it would help with balance problems.
