We have had a hot air fryer for a while now and use it to make chips. As recommended with our model, preheat fryer for 5 mins then cook chipped potatoes for 20 to 25 mins. Try as I may, they are never nice and crispy. Any ideas? Do people parboil the pots first?

I use an ordinary chip pan so I'm not sure if what I do is helpful to someone with a hot air fryer which, I believe, uses minimal cooking oil.

I cut quite chunky chips, parboil them and then deep fry them on a moderate to high heat. They usually come up nice and crispy. I know chips that are deep fried in oil are frowned upon now as being unhealthy but we only have them once a week at most.
