How would you react to the idea of a hot dog sausage in a chocolate chip brioche roll?

Urmstongran Wed 27-Oct-21 20:57:16

I’d roll my eyes it sounds horrid! But maybe it’s a new take on sweet and sour ha!

Grannybags Wed 27-Oct-21 20:58:29

Yuck!

Galaxy Wed 27-Oct-21 21:01:40

Was it an accident?

Josianne Wed 27-Oct-21 21:01:58

Hot dog sausage, tick,
Brioche roll, tick
Chocolate chip, no way.

crazyH Wed 27-Oct-21 21:02:09

Not for me thankyou.! For me it’s got to be either /or and not either /both. I don’t even like sweet and sour chicken. What an awful combination- controversial I know, because it’s the most popular Chinese dish.
Back to hot dog - should go into a plain hot dog roll with onions and mustard spread., maybe a touch of tomato ketchup,

It hasn't happened yet, galaxy. It has been spoken of. I feel I have to do the experiment now grin!

?

JaneJudge Wed 27-Oct-21 21:09:37

i think with mustard, ketchup and onions and lots of alcohol it would be fine

Exactly this!

I love sweet and sour, but pork and chocolate is a step too far.

Galaxy Wed 27-Oct-21 21:10:11

Oh I thought someone had mistakenly given it to you, not that you were making a conscious choice grin

Only with lots and lots and lots of alcohol causing diminished responsibility.

?, nuff sed.

sodapop Wed 27-Oct-21 21:20:53

Definitely a step too far for me. I don't like sweet & sour either crazyH got to be one or the other.

Urmstongran Wed 27-Oct-21 21:25:29

Baggs is this a dare you from the grandchildren? A half term joke perhaps!

Blossoming Wed 27-Oct-21 21:26:59

Needs a good hot chilli sauce or chipotle with it. I’d give it a go grin

A little cafe near us, now closed, used to serve toasted fruit tea cakes with bacon.
My friend and her H used to go every Friday lunchtime for them, she said they were delicious.
It is like apple sauce with pork, lamb with apricots but I think the chocolate would be a Nono for me.

Shinamae Wed 27-Oct-21 21:50:19

?? nuff said!

Nannarose Wed 27-Oct-21 22:02:37

I'm keeping this idea away from the DGCs!!

Lincslass Wed 27-Oct-21 22:25:01

Disgusting basically. Still some folks will try anything .

AmberSpyglass Wed 27-Oct-21 22:45:26

Honestly, I’d probably eat it.

SpanielNanny Wed 27-Oct-21 22:54:02

For his 3rd birthday my dil told gs he could choose whatever he wanted for his breakfast. He picked chocolate brioche, his absolute favourite. A few months later was ds’ birthday. Dil & gs were making him breakfast (bacon sandwiches). By all accounts ds & dil ended up dealing with a 40 minute tantrum, because gs was ADAMANT that the only way daddy could enjoy his birthday breakfast, was if the bacon was inside a chocolate brioche roll!

Unfortunately (or fortunately for ds), they had no chocolate brioche in the house. So he wasn’t able to find out if gs had created a delicacy.

Maybe my gs and whoever you’ve been talking to, know something the rest of us don’t baggs

I've had savoury quiche in sweet pastry. Sounds disgusting. Was lovely.

Blossoming Wed 27-Oct-21 23:18:12

Chocolate is used in savoury dishes in Mexican cooking. Don’t knock it til you’ve tried it.

OnwardandUpward Wed 27-Oct-21 23:21:27

Disgusted! confused

Mainly because I don't eat hotdog sausages. I would eat the chocolate brioche - on it's own. Nothing would induce me to eat a hotdog sausage,
