Broad beans give me wind!

At the moment we are picking broad beans from the garden and eating them nearly every day because they are best straight from the pod straight from the plant BUT - at the moment I find they are filling me with wind, which hasn't happened before. Can anyone give advice on how to cook them so this is minimised? I seem to remember years ago I heard advice to cook them with a herb but I can't remember what that may have been.

If you are eating them that fresh - then delicious as they are - they will give you flatulance :

Try soaking the beans overnight and changing the water before cooking .
Or :
You could add some apple cider vingar at the end of cooking them .
Or :
If you like the taste of asafoetida from Indian grocery stores - a little added is a well known digestive .
Or :
Seaweed sold as nori originally from Japanese shops , but I think available from the big supermarkets will also stop it if you add some .

If you didn't have this problem before maybe your stomach is upset .
Have you had antibiotics recently ?
Maybe take some probiotics to restore the natural balance .

Meanwhile enjoy those beans !

Thanks for your reply Esmay. The situation is now improved although we are still picking the beans!
