Do you ever think that the food you eat is not safe?

Theexwife Tue 28-Mar-23 12:52:15

No, what do you think?

midgey Tue 28-Mar-23 12:54:34

Not safe for me or not safe for the planet?

Elegran Tue 28-Mar-23 12:58:09

Neither do I. I buy my food from reputable sellers, who know that there are regulations in the UK which penalise anyone selling unsafe food. I store it properly, wash what needs washed and cook it thoroughly, and I can recognise anything that is "off".

Nope.

I know that some foods could be unsafe if I didn't cook/wash them properly but since I know that and act accordingly...... 🤷🏻‍♀️

Not sure what you're after, OP. ¿?

Blondiescot Tue 28-Mar-23 14:06:59

Not sure what you mean. Why would it not be safe?

GagaJo Tue 28-Mar-23 14:23:29

I ate a piece of sushi 2 days ago that tasted 'dodgy'. Spat it out and didn't eat it.

Don't usually think about it.

I wonder if this thread is leading to some sort of recommendation/website. An odd OP.

Blossoming Tue 28-Mar-23 14:28:37

No.

welbeck Tue 28-Mar-23 14:31:18

OP, are you the person who comes on MN quite often to ask if they've ever wondered if the mains water is safe ??

Yes, there is a Twitter user with the same name who gives health and fitness tips “for girls” and probably sells supplements too.

Do you ever think that the food you eat is not safe?

No. From week to week we get told that different foods are good for you/bad for you. We hear that additives are bad for you but chemically produced foods are good for you, but not safe?
Please elucidate H1F2

JackyB Tue 28-Mar-23 15:31:24

Well, I'm still here, so: no.

Callistemon21 Tue 28-Mar-23 15:52:44

Well, I left some chicken casserole out on the side overnight (not much thank goodness)

Do you think it's safe to eat, OP?
We never had fridges when I was a girl.

Hetty58 Tue 28-Mar-23 15:57:21

There's that saying 'You eat a ton of dirt before you die' - not that I'm worried - and we probably need the minerals!

GagaJo Tue 28-Mar-23 16:37:56

At 2, my grandson wouldn't eat his dinner 'Is disgusting' but was happy to lick the toilet. He's still here.

Norah Tue 28-Mar-23 16:40:51

No.

Kim19 Tue 28-Mar-23 17:24:34

Never so far. I do read labels and also rely on strong sense of taste and smell.

Mogsmaw Tue 28-Mar-23 17:36:38

Dh thought we’d drunk all the wine on Sunday …. But we hadn’t! So we retrieved the bottle from the bin, and drank it.
Bin wine, perfectly safe

MerylStreep Tue 28-Mar-23 17:46:39

I think you need to get out more if this is worrying you.

M0nica Wed 29-Mar-23 15:32:43

'unsafe' in what sense? Likely to give me food poisoning? Nutritionally unsafe (UPFs)? Nutritionally unsafe (poor diet)? Poor food safety on the farm or in transporting, processing, storage? Food grown in a way that endangers the planet?

OP unless we know what aspect of food safety bothers you, we cannot offfer any opinions.

ParlorGames Wed 29-Mar-23 15:35:01

Considering the OP's user name, could this be a marketing scam?

Just asking, don't shoot me!

Blondiescot Wed 29-Mar-23 15:36:22

I'm pretty sure it is. Just an excuse to advertise some or other nonsense, no doubt.
