The plum tree is laden with ripe fruit, but this year a lot of the plums are smaller than usual.
Anyone else experienced this?

Please excuse me the title of your thread tickled me this morning!!

Yes, they're very tiny and we have fewer than last year. BIL lost his crop due to that cold snap.

I only have apple trees, but my husband said he feels the same way. (Ignore me)

What a good thing I changed plums to crop in my post

Hardly dare reply now!
I only have small plums on one branch, everything else was caught by the cold snap.

I'm sure this was a code phrase on "Allo, Allo." smile

We had a bumper crop last year, absolutely none this year!
Too dry and cold in the spring?

Jaxjacky Tue 03-Aug-21 11:01:24

Too many cold baths

Millie22 Tue 03-Aug-21 11:34:40

Despite a late frost my plum tree is laden but they are smaller, maybe they will ripen larger. Apples are also smaller

Callistemon Tue 03-Aug-21 11:40:42

I'm probably telling Grannies to suck eggs here but, because our plums keeping dropping off (no comments please ) we have to watch out for the dog eating them if they dry out on the ground. They're not good for dogs as the stones contain cyanide and other toxins.

I saw a video once of badgers completely drunk after eating fermented plums- they love them.

I have a lovely painting here entitled 'The Plum Badgers' which I love.

Excuse me laughing OP but I must have a one track mind too!

We no longer have fruit trees or dogs sadly. When we did have, fortunately the dogs ignored any fallen fruit, surprising for greedy labradors.

Nortsat Tue 03-Aug-21 11:49:46

We had absolutely none last year.
Theres a good crop this year but they havent ripened. They are usually ripe by the end of July.

gangy5 Tue 03-Aug-21 11:55:44

Our apples are tiny. Only a very few of the wild blackberries have developed this year.

MawBe Tue 03-Aug-21 11:59:24

I hope nobody is growing melons

I never thought of plums a different way. 不不
Theres no shortage of fruit, just that this pic shows the big ones. Lots of them are like big grapes and theyre already falling off.

Mollygo Tue 03-Aug-21 14:20:28

The plums.
