Here is the link to a petition asking for the wholly unfair system of continuing health care funding to be overhauled.

I have been locked in this mess for weeks.

Thanks MiniMoon.

Signed. I do hope we at least reach 10000 signatures. Being a technophobe I cannot send this on. but if everybody on GN does, which I doubt as there is no financial incentive (sorry, could not resist that!)

Signed Luckygirl. I do hope things sort out for you soon.

Signed, wishing you well lucky.

Thanks for petition link Lucky. I tried to get this funding for my mother who can do nothing for herself, but it seems it is almost impossible, unless someone is in a coma! I gave up fighting in the end as it was going to prove prohibitively expensive to appeal, even using a 'not for profit' law firm.

Signed. Hope it gets sorted soon for you Lucky.

Lazirl - I suspect that is what they are banking on. Make it so difficult - indeed illegally difficult - and people give up.

The judge in the landmark case on this topic said that his judgement meant that most elderly people leaving hospital would qualify. The NHS tries to keep this secret.

Signed and shared.

I do hope you are successful Luckygirl. The worst thing is having to be so resilient at a time when you are emotionally and physically knackered. It is such a fight for everything, funding, equipment, appropriate care.........I am sure you are correct in that they hope people will just give up - and they do.

I’ve signed wish I could share it but I just don’t know how.

morethan2 Mon 06-May-19 07:43:24

Oh and good luck, I’m sorry it’s adding so much stress on top of an already upsetting period.

This scheme really needs reevaluating. Currently it goes to those with the most legal clout. I applied for it for my brother who had prostate cancer and dementia and all he could do was feed himself slowly How much weaker does he have to be ? I asked. When he has about 6 weeks to live.. was the answer. He was dead 3 weeks later.
He was in a nursing home using his own savings to pay for care.

GranEd Mon 06-May-19 08:04:32

Signed. Hope you’re successful. Best wishes.

Signed.
We lost on appeal, like thousands of others. The whole system needs a massive shake up. The line they draw between who qualifies and who doesn’t is so fine it’s imperceptible.
Hope you have more success than we did Luckygirl
