Diabetic Socks

Knit some?

I could do I suppose, but from what I remember of knitted socks they soon need darning, and that's a big no-no for diabetic feet.

Have you tried bamboo socks?
I haven't, but have read good things about them.

My husband had the same problem, he wore some from Marks and Spencer which had a soft top. They have wool ones and cotton ones and go up to sock size 13 which fits size 12 shoe.

Falke are an excellent brand and all their socks are “ soft top”
The price is eye watering but I’m washing Falke socks that are 5+ years old.
The size range is up to a 15.

MissA bamboo socks are lovely, really soft!

I'm not a big fan of socks.
They set my teeth on edge a bit, but I keep thinking I should find some nice ones and persevere.

Bit pricy but I think they do go up to size 12.

I second or third bamboo socks. Really soft and comfy

I have lymphoedema both lower legs so wearing socks has been a problem but recently I bought 3 pairs of socks for £9.58 from Amazon. They are called Youedge- bamboo, breathable and super soft. They do men as well but you would have to look up the size as I take a 6!

They really are soft and to date, I have not had this problem of pulling them on and the sock tears. They also wash a treat.

If they are not suitable you can always return them.

Cosyfeet.com sell several types of socks suitable for diabetics, i.e. seam-free and soft top. The men’s range fits up to size 13.

Marks and Spencer’s do some with soft tops. My husband is diabetic and always buys them.

Aldi were selling diabetic socks last week. I got OH 2 pairs and they seem absolutely fine.

Although I have skinny ankles I prefer the 'no show' sneaker type socks that just cover the foot/shoe area without bands around the legs. OK, they do nothing for chilly legs but I have slipper boots.

Bought some at my local market for £3.99 for 3 pairs. The non elastic top seems to be the main difference to normal socks.

Yes if you wear a tight ring so your blood circulation is stopped. That's not good for health

Most diabetic socks have hand-finished seamless toes as well as soft wide tops. I am not diabetic but have very sensitive feet so always wear them. Some brands mentioned above have 'bigfoot' sizes up to 14, so hope you get sorted.

You could always unpick some of the elastic at the welt of the sock. I have had tight ankled socks before and done this to make them wearable. The welt is made up of lots of rows of thread elastic. If you take about half out, they become softer and stretchier and a lot less tight and uncomfortable.
