Buying a new mattress

We are considering buying a new mattress. Earlier on there had been a thread about mattresses, and EVE have been mentioned.
Has anyone had a SIMBA one?

I am not too sure about memory foam, and lots of mattresses have this in their make up. I don't think I could bear to be too hot in bed.
Any suggestions gratefully received.

I very much regret buying memory foam, especially as I can’t afford to throw the mattress out and buy something better. I will never buy it again.

I bought an emma mattress in the Spring. It is wonderful. I have not had any hip pain since. I slept on it all Summer, but we just had the usual British Summer up here in the frozen north! However, I don't find it hot, and I still suffer with hot flushes at night.
One thing I will say though, it is medium to firm, so don't buy a foam mattress if you like a soft one.

"skye17" I too bought a memory foam mattress and like you hated it. I found it far too hot and very uncomfortable but my daughter suggested I got a mattress topper, which I did. I could not believe the difference, it is much more comfy. I just wonder if one would be of any use to you.

I’m not a fan of the memory foam ones, I find them too hot, and too giving, I prefer a firmer bed- my son has a Simba one which I’ve slept on a few times. Mine is an orthopaedic sprung one from John Lewis, and I find it really comfortable.

@travelnan Thank you. I did get a mattress topper, which i think helped, but I still wake up hot.

Thanks to all who have posted, and PM'd.
I am still researching, but Soozikinzi I think Hypnos may well be beyond our budget.

Well I bit the bullet this morning and bought a new mattress.

DH had raised eyebrows when I told him ?, he knows me too well.

Just got to wait for delivery date now, and then get it upstairs.
Good job we have a few young strong neighbours.

We bought a Hypnos mattress five years ago. It was fine at the beginning but now, despite turning, has grooves where we both lie. Looking for a new one, so this thread is very timely.

I love my memory foam mattress and I added a mattress topper for extra comfort. I do wake up during the night fairly hot but being a cold morsel I do not mind. My memory foam mattress and my 15 tog duvet and I am in my element.
