Just realised that the DWP is paying Xmas bonus with qualifying benefits. It's made me think, I receive contribution based ESA, and D L A, my husband gets a state pension , all three are qualifying benefits, does that mean we get £30 as opposed to just £10?

No

I think it means you get £20 ...one Christmas bonus each but I might be wrong. smile

polnan Mon 09-Dec-19 10:06:48

£10 each

I noticed £10 extra deposited in my account from same account pension comes from. Didn't have a letter about it so did wonder what it was for.

When it was first launched, my late Mum used it for Christmas presents! £5 to me, £3 to DH, and £1 each to DDs! Last of the big spenders was she!

Max allowed is £10 each person.

I never got a letter either but £10 has gone in I thought my friend said she had had a letter but I didn’t

jenpax Mon 09-Dec-19 11:02:36

Yes it’s £10 a person

Shelagh6 Mon 09-Dec-19 11:08:12

I really don’t need this. Do any of us. It would be better to be put into Elderly carere, homelessness - anything really!
Surely we all agree?

Quizzer Mon 09-Dec-19 11:08:48

The £10 bonus started in the early 1970s and has not increased in all that time.

when it was launched my nan bought herself a new winter coat and still had change to buy us lunch! And just think how many £10s have been saved by not having to pay the WASPI generation

jannxxx Mon 09-Dec-19 11:39:19

makes me laugh i get the 10 pound bonus all my neighbours get the 200 pound bonus and week before they get it you see the new freezers arrive, fireplaces, last year someone bought a arm chair, smile

CrazyGrandma2 Mon 09-Dec-19 11:42:10

Shelagh6 I agree with you. As with the winter fuel allowance, if one is in the fortunate position of not needing it, there are plenty of charities who would be grateful to receive it.

I suppose it is at least an acknowledgement of our continuing existence ...much to the annoyance of the government ! In France pensioners receive a 'Prime de Noel; which is a lot of money, AS WELL AS a lot for summer called 'Prime de vacation !'

moggie57 Mon 09-Dec-19 13:07:05

no just £10.. scrooges at the DWP. bah hum bug

moggie57 Mon 09-Dec-19 13:08:22

Jane10 Mon 09-Dec-19 13:09:24

Anyone is free to donate it to the charity of their choice.

Saggi Mon 09-Dec-19 13:18:35

Got mi ! All £10 of it ..... I don’t know what to ‘blow’ it on! So I’m gonna give it to ‘Crisis’.

EllanVannin Mon 09-Dec-19 14:49:51

2x taxi rides from Asda with my large shops.

KathyG54 Mon 09-Dec-19 15:59:06

Must cost as much to administer what a waste !

Hymnbook Mon 09-Dec-19 16:10:06

When the Christmas bonus came out many years ago it was very useful. Now it probably does cost more in admin. I suppose they should really scrap it. I worked in a post office then and the people who received it were very grateful.

The £10 bonus is actually enshrined in law. To change it or abolish it would take a lot of time and hence cost that's why it's always pushed out of Parliament when anyone brings it up. Not the same with the winter fuel allowance, that isn't law, it's a concession from which ever goverment is in power.

4allweknow Mon 09-Dec-19 16:27:50

goverment☆

4allweknow Mon 09-Dec-19 16:28:25

Fat finger day - government!
