Just back from hospital - hubby needs triple bypass. Well, NHS gets top marks for providing lots of info & giving a much quicker date than we ever expected. We hear a lot of negative press about NHS - what's your experience?

From my experience, once you're in the system it's brilliant. All systems go and no expense spared!
The bugbear seems to be getting that first consultation, although with the '2 week rule' if it's urgent you're seen almost immediately.
We do complain, but really the NHS is pretty darn good IMO.

It took 12 weeks (target - everyone referred is seen within 12 weeks - just) to get an X-ray and a physio appointment for my excruciating sciatica, which turned out to be due to a herniated disc pressing on the sciatic nerve. Once I was visible in the system they were excellent. I now have suitable exercises and the right medication, which are helping no end. It is the waiting for non-urgent treatment that is frustrating Once they get going they are great.
