Vineyard Gate

There has been talk of a new Colchester Town centre shopping complex on the site of the Vineyard car park for a decade. Now agreements have been put back again.
Will you believe it when you see it? Do you think Colchester needs the big name shops it will attract?
Personally I think the council should promote our historical heritage and spend the money on the upkeep of what is already here and cheaper parking.

I'm fairly new to Colchester so not sure where the vineyard car park is, but I think that Colchester is good for shops already and doesn't need any more or bigger ones. I agree that the unique SP of the town is the historical heritage and it is not played up enough, for example I could not believe my eyes just turning into Priory Street for the first time and seeing the wonderful abbey remains but they do not appear to be very well looked after.

It also seems that BHS is to be replaced by Primark and Sports Direct may move out of town.
