Anyone in North Essex fancy a picnic in Colchester Castle Park? The council are setting up a big screen and showing Wimbledon from 29th June to 12th July.

Pitcity Yes Mrs. P and I would be up for that, sounds good. The only days we could make are the 2nd 3rd 8th and 9th

How about Wednesday 8th July (weather permitting)? Should be quarter finals by then!

Yes that would be fine. I have a 10:30 appointment at the hearing clinic, should be able to get the 11am bus which would get us to the park about 11.45 (12:15 if we miss that bus). I have Pm'd you.

Main matches don't start until 1pm, so you wouldn't miss much (and we promise not to eat all the cakes)

Are you bringing cake Pompa?

pompa Wed 24-Jun-15 21:15:09

I thought Madeira to go with the champagne you are bringing.

It would be good to know if there is anyone out there who is interested in meeting up even if our suggestions are not convenient to you.
Please let us know what kind of thing would suit you.

Close to the screen or close to the bar?

pompa Mon 29-Jun-15 20:06:23

Oh hell, another decision to make. smile

Bump up -- any more takers ?

Looks like it's just us Pompa, unless they are all keeping quiet!
I am still going unless it is raining. Had a look today and think that in the shade of the big tree diagonally the Bandstand and the boating lake, just the other side of the path is a good spot.

Yes we will be there unless it's raining. Where is the screen ?. Not been into the park for years. Looking on Google earth. is it the large light green tree ?. I have PM'd you.

The screen is on the wall that divides the Park.
From the High Street walk past the castle on the left hand side straight on, take the right fork in the path and past the fence marking the licensed area.

Coming from the Cowdray Ave direction head towards the Castle/Upper Park. Cross the path and Roman Wall. The screen is on this wall.

I have marked the screen and the tree we hope to set up camp under (shade and rain protection in mind!) with red arrows.

I have blonde hair and will wear an orange maxi dress. My deckchair is turquoise. Pompa tells me that he will have feathers in his hat!!

Looks like we planned well; Andy Murray at 1pm!

pompa Wed 08-Jul-15 07:40:06

Will get the 10:30 bus, so should be in the park about 11:45.

Looks a bit windy and drizzly so I have a red tartan blanket and a blue cagoule with coloured stars on it!
