artsdepot has recently launched “A Place to Meet” a project to engage older people at risk of social isolation in arts and social activities. The project targets those over the age of 75 and the venue is keen to hear from individuals who would like to be involved, and organisations that could recommend participants.

The project includes free talks, arts and social activities, support with transport, ticket offers and more.

“Whilst older people generally have more time than those working they can also face greater isolation through ill health, loss of a partner, or friends and lack of confidence. Engaging and participating in arts and culture can address many of these areas”, said Estelle Buckridge, who is leading the project at artsdepot.

“A Place to Meet” aims to help address social isolation by using the arts as a vehicle for meeting others and socialising.

Through this project, supported by the City Bridge Trust, artsdepot aims to connect with 500 older people over the course of the next three years.

Anyone interested in finding out about forthcoming events, should contact Estelle on [email protected] or 020 8369 5496.
