Hi,
One of my friends is going to be a grandmother soon, she is 47 and feels a bit uncomfortable being called grandma.I’ve started researching the web to find alternatives for her. It seems that many people out there have similar concerns.
A new trend is using a foreign version like bomma(Flemish) or nonnie(Italian)
Many people are using trendy versions like glammy or granny? or nicknames.
How do you prefer to be called? Suggestions will be highly appreciated.smile

We've had threads on this before, with lots of suggestions, that you might be able to find. But if not.... I fancied being called Nonna at the time, but it seemed just a wee bit pretentious for a Northern lass without a drop of Italian blood. So I decided Nana wasn't really too far off grin There'll be input from the grandchildren anyway - my eldest (3yo) always gives me my full title of Nana Maggie.

I can't say I'd like to be called Bomma. I can imagine what toddlers, and cheeky sons, might make of that.

Haha,
I know what you mean.smile
Well I haven't realised there are so many options out there.
When I was a little girl we only had grandmother and grandfather.
