SubscribeHMRC have published some figures to show that food and drink exports fell by 2bn in the first 3 months since Brexit.
Dairy was down a massive 90%? and there were losses across the board.
The figures show that rather it being a teething issue as the Tories would have us believe it is in fact structural and likely to continue unless there is some sort of move towards say the SM.

We really are led by donkeys.
Quote from this Conservative Home interview with Kwarteng, kudos to Conservative Home. Never thought I'd say that.
Kwarteng: “I think that’s a perfectly legitimate question, and when I answer these questions I pivot back to the Prime Minister’s ten-point plan, The New Decalogue as he calls it.”
ConHome: “That was a satire.”

Just done a quick online search, approximately 36% of Germans have passports and just under 50% of French. Haven’t got time to check the rest as I am going out.
That is not the point GG13- so don't be disingenuous!
They are missing out on the wonders of the rest of the World.

Apparently, according to Ms Patel- increased security ?!?
Not a big deal for some- especially if they are regular visitors, but will certainly put off many casual visitors and holiday makers- those who come for a long week-end in London or many of our fabulous towns, or visit for a longer holiday.
An extra £70 + per person is a lot- and much more so for a family. Are you inferring that EU citizens do not normally hold passports?
We have often befriended folks from EU Countries wherever we have travelled outside of the EU, they had passports.
Yes, I am. Especially in rural areas, the vast majority do not have a passport. Why should they? The whole of Europe, including the UK until today- could be visited without.
So unless they want to go to USA or NZ, or very far destinations- then there was no need. Still no need for EU and other parts of Europe- so why should they spend all that money???
Sorry MaizieD I missed the link, cannot abide Jeremy Vines TV show, so I have managed to avoid her.

Kali2 I have no idea who Malone is that you keep referring to.

Yes my grandchildren will need passports to go to the UK now. They have always travelled on Spanish identity cards. Not a big deal, but not sure what the UK gains by it?
It's not the EUs fault that the UK chose, always, not to have UK identity cards, is it!?!
Yes, I am fully aware of it.
The point being, Malone is complaining about £7 Visa- when now Europeans will have to spend more than 10x that much- which they did not have to before today, and before Brexit. Passports were only required for those who wanted to go beyond Europe. Hardly 'insular' to be happy to travel across a whole, and very varied, with lots of cultures, languages, foods, landscapes, geography, etc, etc, etc.
'Insular' is a term I'd rather use for Brexiters who wanted to choose to isolate us all from our neighbours and partners- and then bitterly complain about the consequences. As Malone ridiculous rant above.

86 Euros in France for instance - a bit cheaper for kids. So I can't see families rushing to visit the UK- somehow. And not just because of passport costs.
U.K. citizens have always needed a passport to travel to EU Countries and elsewhere in the world.
(My Danish and Spanish relatives have had passports since birth, they like to travel and are not so insular that they never leave the EU borders)

she is such a stupid woman!
And those passports will be required for HGV drivers too - no?

I have just checked on the Government website and up till and including yesterday U.K. Citizens could enter the U.K. with their national ID cards.
As from today (01/10/21) they will have to have a passport, like everyone else.
So UK people complaina bout having to pay £7 for a Visa that will last for multiple visits. But EU people wanting to come to UK will have to spend about 10X that much and more, for biometric passports! But continue to use their ID cards within EU and Schengen!
Yes I do sorry, I am trying to zone out Peppa Pig MaizieD
In my defence I did put EU citizens in my previous post

I wouldn't disagree with any of that Whitewave.
It reminds me of Trump's "Nobody knew health care could be so complicated."

What is Patel’s problem. This isn’t even true.
Passports were needed!

We're ending the use of insecure ID cards for entry into the UK to strengthen our border and deliver on the people’s priority to take back control of our immigration system.
Firm on those who seek to abuse the system.
Fair on those who play by the rules.
EU citizens were able to enter U.K. with their ID cards, I have seen it at Passport Control.

Another Brexit extension from today.
Our businesses are being presented with a far from level playing field when competing with the EU businesses.
It is so unfair.
