Is anyone else watching or listening to the news? This sounds bad.

callgirl1 Tue 23-May-17 01:15:46

It`s terrible, they say 19 dead and over 50 injured.

WilmaKnickersfit Tue 23-May-17 01:16:46

Yes, a girl on R5 said there were two explosions.

callgirl1 Tue 23-May-17 01:24:28

We come from the Greater Manchester area, have lots of relatives there, just hope none of them were at the concert.

WilmaKnickersfit Tue 23-May-17 01:26:12

The police are about to carry out a controlled explosion on a suspect package.

WilmaKnickersfit Tue 23-May-17 01:30:32

Police confirmed the first incident took place outside the venue near the foyer.

A lot of people saying too many children were unaccompanied.

Dreadful.

Was just checking the news before turning in and couldn't believe the breaking news. It makes other news I've been obsessing about for days seem very unimportant indeed. Such a tragic loss of life on what should have been a fun evening out.

Ginny42 Tue 23-May-17 01:37:39

I was puzzled by how many children were there.

Ginny42 Tue 23-May-17 01:40:35

ITV news saying police treating it as a terrorist attack at this stage.

WilmaKnickersfit Tue 23-May-17 01:44:15

Ginny it was an Ariana Grande concert, do lots of children were there. Children under 14 were supposed to be accompanied, but it sounds like many were not.

chelseababy Tue 23-May-17 03:34:23

Just hearing it might have been a suicide bomber.

Lillie Tue 23-May-17 06:00:07

Dreadful news.
Many parents appealing for news of their children. It makes you want to wrap them up in cotton wool and never let them out of your sight.
Mans inhumanity to man reaches us.
Heartfelt sympathy to all affected.

Dreadful news to wake up to. sad
Thinking especially of NW grans and all those who had friends or family there and may still be waiting to hear they are safe.

Luckylegs9 Tue 23-May-17 07:24:37

This is so awful for everyone there that night. The response from police, hospitals and emergency services has been wonderful. So much good in the face of this horror, 22 dead, 59 injured, heart goes out to them and their families. I am estranged from my granddaughter, who I know as a teenage loves live gigs, all I can think is please don't let her be involved in this. No reason she would be as its a school night. It is heartbreaking.

Dreadful news from Manchester, how many more innocent people will die. Such a wonderful response from local people and services, please God that this the final extent of deaths.

Many who survive will have life-changing injuries.

All political campaigning is to cease for a day as a mark of respect. This should include GN. So many of us have grandchildren the same age as some of the victims. So appalling. So very sad.
