A quote from an article by Nick Cohen in Saturday's (I think) Guardian

My phone isn't letting me do links - sorry! But try googling it if you are interested.

Can't find it by googling, kitty. Wonder what it means? Mid-life crisis?

kittylester Sun 17-Sep-17 18:36:03

Think it was saying that exactly Ana!

I Googled nick Cohen and guardian and it was about the first thing. The whole article is worth a read.

Harley Davidson.
Survived periods of high economic downturn as well as global competition to become the world's largest Motorcycle manufacturer.
An iconic brand widely known for its loyal following!

Jeremy Corbyn????hmm

kittylester Sun 17-Sep-17 18:42:36

But mostly bought in Britain by people having a midlife crisis trying to relive their youth!

It doesn't surprise me - Nick Cohen makes no secret of the fact he detests Jeremy Corbyn. I heard Nick Cohen speak at a literature festival last year (or possibly the year before - time flies). He seemed full of bitterness, bile and hatred and I left feeling quite depressed. He had nothing useful or interesting to say. I then went to hear another talk about suicide and the young man speaking was so engaging, warm, positive and life affirming that he left me full of hope. A very strange experience.

Thanks Annie.

Every person I've known who rides a Harley is a grey haired saddow with a pony tail.
Very surprised that it was in the socialist bible.

Chewbacca Sun 17-Sep-17 19:32:16

Sounds like an accurate description of Corbie, sans ponytail petra! I reckon he'd have one if he had enough hair though

POGS Sun 17-Sep-17 20:45:29

Interesting read Kitty.

Cherrytree59 Sun 17-Sep-17 21:37:39

petra you must know different riders to me
The ones I know ride

The Santa run taking presents to disadvantaged children.

Arrange events and collect for Air ambulance.

Do a charity ride every Armistice Sunday to the National Arboretum

Annual ride for an animal charity collecting money and pet food from bystanders on route.

The list goes on......

I know because we often ride along side them on our British Triumph!

Stereotyping or what!!angry

lemongrove Sun 17-Sep-17 22:19:10

Funnily enough Kitty I know somebody the same age as me who did just that a couple of years ago, blew all the cash on a Harley and got tattoos! His family could really have used the money spent as well.angry
It would take more than a midlife crisis to make me vote for Corbyn though.

durhamjen Sun 17-Sep-17 22:46:00

If that's the case, why are the Tories trying to steal the youth vote from Labour?

devongirl Sun 17-Sep-17 22:53:51

dj, cherry - this is just another Corbyn-bashing thread, just ignore.

paddyann Sun 17-Sep-17 23:14:38

so lets all vote for another 20 years of unecessary austerity..its not needed its an ideological thing ...but hey all you right wingers cant bear to hear the truth ...the Tory government is bankrupting the country ,so well done for voting them back in

kittylester Mon 18-Sep-17 07:37:07

'steal' is a very emotive word, dj. Surely no one owns the voters and all parties want to appeal to all sections of society. confused

durhamjen Mon 18-Sep-17 07:48:54

The OP is emotive, surely.

Anniebach Mon 18-Sep-17 08:27:05

The momentum party still pretending to be the Labour Party.

Anniebach Mon 18-Sep-17 08:28:44

Tories steal votes, momentum win votes ?

f77ms Mon 18-Sep-17 08:30:16

Paddyann , spot on xx

lemongrove Mon 18-Sep-17 09:12:17

paddyann since you are Scottish and live in Scotland and are a fervent SNP supporter and would like to break away from the rest of the UK, you are not actually affected much by austerity, the students there don't pay any tuition fees, you don't pay for prescriptions and houses are cheap compared to other places.
There will hardly be another 20 years of Conservative rule anyway, but austerity measures are certainly not unnecessary, given the deficit.

lemongrove Mon 18-Sep-17 09:15:44

durhamjen you could as easily say that Labour are trying to steal the youth vote, promising no tuition fees at all, which is not feasible and would never happen anyway.
But the truth is that nobody is 'stealing' anything, but trying to influence the younger voter.

Maggiemaybe Mon 18-Sep-17 09:57:19

So we should only care about something that affects us personally, and vote accordingly? confused Is this really what we've come to?

kittylester Mon 18-Sep-17 10:03:24

Quite - your last 2 posts - lemongrove!
