"I've been sat up in bed for hours, whisky on the bedside table, soft jazz playing in the background, trying to think if I've ever worked with a more idiotic bunch of self centred bastards in my nearly 50 years as a MP.

Nope, still can't think of any. Time for another bottle."

Made me chuckle!

Well said Ken. Thank you Nonnie

petunia Fri 16-Nov-18 10:28:30

they all need their heads knocking together. or a spell on the naughty step

kittylester Fri 16-Nov-18 11:06:29

I love ken Clarke.

maryeliza54 Fri 16-Nov-18 11:16:29

That’s not his Twitter account

oldbatty Fri 16-Nov-18 11:32:51

Is "I've been sat" correct?

Caledonai14 Fri 16-Nov-18 11:43:10

Thanks Nonnie.

I like Ken Clarke more and more.

Nonnie Fri 16-Nov-18 12:18:49

How can you tell ^maryeliza*? Not that it matters

JenniferEccles Fri 16-Nov-18 12:32:49

oldbatty I don't think it is.

Surely it should be 'I was sitting' or 'I sat' ?

Can someone confirm this?

maryeliza54 Fri 16-Nov-18 12:34:15

Meant to say more but was interrupted Nonnie. Firstly ask yourself would the person really put that on Twitter? Then click onto their ‘homepage’ and what’s written at the top will usually make it clear. Or else type in name ( in this case. KC) and see what comes up. You will then usually see a list of people going by this name and can check which is genuine and which is spoof. Spoof twitter accounts for well known people ( and there is an hilarious one for Southetn Rail)
are quite common. The only genuine accounts which have left me open mothed are Kirstie Allsopp who was (thinks she’s left Twitter now) much given to drunken foul mouthed rants late at night - clearly alcohol fuelled and Sarah Wooleston (sp) who I really rate who has tweeted somewhat unwisely sometimes late at night.

I think the "I was sat up in bed" was a giveaway that it wasn't Ken Clarke.

sodapop Fri 16-Nov-18 13:45:36

You are right JenniferEccles

Nonnie Fri 16-Nov-18 13:51:45

Let's not get bogged down in whether it is genuine or not, that wasn't why I posted it, it was because it amused me. Was not intended to get anyone making a point about Twitter!

Surely we all need something to smile about right now?

GrannyGravy13 Fri 16-Nov-18 13:52:00

It’s easy to see if this is a parody or real account, if it is Ken Clarke it will have a blue tick.

Anniebach Fri 16-Nov-18 13:56:28

It gave me a chuckle Nonnie

Blinko Fri 16-Nov-18 14:00:47

Oh yes!

maryeliza54 Fri 16-Nov-18 14:14:16

Nonnie it does matter if it’s genuine or not, you presented it as genuine and others believed you. Jokes are fine but I think we should know if something is funny and true or funny and untrue.

janeainsworth Fri 16-Nov-18 14:55:31

This is the real Ken Clarke’s page.
Still love him!

maryeliza54 Fri 16-Nov-18 14:58:07

I agree jane / his Twitter account is great. My point was that it can matter if we repost Tweets that are spoofs.

Nonnie Fri 16-Nov-18 15:25:06

Well I thought you were all more mature than that! I expected you all just to treat it as a laugh, after all it is only a bit of fun and isn't pushing any 'facts' or anything which is likely to influence anyone. I was hoping to lighten things up not get all this treating it as if it were important. sad Shall I go and sit on the naughty step?

M0nica Fri 16-Nov-18 15:38:20

Who cares, whoever posted it caught the quintessential Ken Clark, his interests and his voice.

I bet Ken Clarke is wishing he had posted it.

janeainsworth Fri 16-Nov-18 16:09:45

What’s immature about pointing out that it wasn’t actually Ken Clarke?
There’s a fine line between spoof social media accounts and fake news.
Agree with you maryeliza.

Nonnie Fri 16-Nov-18 16:29:11

Thanks Monica good to see some have a sense of humour.

No, surely none of you thought it was 'fake news', really?

Chewbacca Fri 16-Nov-18 16:32:44

foul mouthed rants late at night

wink

GillT57 Fri 16-Nov-18 16:34:18

Ken Clarke has gone up even more in my estimation, true twitter or not. He is the little boy who denounced the Emperor, wish we had more like him and I don't even vote Tory.
