Amber Rudd admitted today that the increased use of food banks is 'partly' down to problems in rolling out universal credit, that it was "absolutely clear there were challenges with the initial roll-out" of the benefit and that the difficulty in accessing money was "one of the causes" of the rise.
Then she stated that the government had made changes to 'help tackle food insecurity.' What a very strange expression. Does she mean when people simply don't know where their next meal is coming from? When parents don't know how they're going to feed themselves and their children?
Such 'food insecurity' Minister, results in people being malnourished and those who are parents being very stressed and fearful for the wellbeing of their children.
What 'food insecurity' means in practical terms is they haven't got any. Shame on this Government.
