Today the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland voted to allow same sex marriages in Church.I couldn't be more pleased .
My lovely neice was denied a church wedding to her partner because of their sexuality ,yet the same church had been happy for years to let them ,both young women, volunteer many hours every week for years
Now they'll get the wedding service they wanted .
Congratulations to them and the many who are in the same circumstances .Congatulations also to the Church for at last, joining the 21st century .

Good news for your niece, paddyann54, and about time too! There isn't enough love in this world, so we should make the most of celebrating it wherever we find it.

I’m not a church goer but that is excellent.

It is so strange that CofE is behind on this. Our local cathedral has an openly gay deputy organist who has been there for years - he and his partner are there a lot together and always welcomed - how potty that they cannot actually marry there - he is such an integral part of the place.

It is silly isn't it Luckygirl.

That’s very good news. I’m afraid the CofE are very behind the times. They have pet services and bless ships and buildings, but won’t bless a gay couple. I read an interview with Richard Coles the other day. It seems a major reason that he is retiring as a priest a few years early, is because of the CofE’s continued treatment of gay men and women as second class parishioners or people who should be ashamed.

Gay couples can have their marriage blessed in The Church of
Wales but not Church of England,

Scottish Episcopal Church have conducted same sex marriages
for several years.

Amazing that you can bless a dog but not a gay couple!!

Last time I saw the Glasgow pride march, 2019 I think, the Church of Scotland was marching with a huge banner. I was so pleased and proud to see them there.
