The Tory party needs a leader who demonstartes the prevailing standards of moral probity or intelligence

How about Chris Pincher or David Warburton if moral probity is key or Nadine Dorries or Jacon Rees Mogg to demonstrate the typical level of intelligence?

I miss Amber Rudd.

Jacob Rees Mog for me! I admire his integrity. Steve Baker when he has had a bit more experience.

Kandinsky Wed 06-Jul-22 09:34:16

Rishi Sunak will probably get the job.

Grandmabatty Wed 06-Jul-22 09:39:04

Rees Mogg has integrity? The devout Catholic who voted against abortion but owns a company which produces abortion pills? That Mogg? The condescending sneering pencil who lies almost as much as Johnson? Okay then. ?

Yes it seems so long ago when a minister mucks up that they resign and take responsibility. Even the porn addicted MP seems vaguely innocent compared with those left sitting around the cabinet table today. There must surely be a stink from them that the cleaners find difficult to handle.

I reckon Sunak is after the job.

If Johnson doesn’t go now there will be no Conservative party left.

From Twitter - choosing a new Tory leader is like deciding which portaloo to use at Glastonbury.

Smileless2012 Wed 06-Jul-22 10:14:27

Good one RichmondParkgrin.

Jaxjacky Wed 06-Jul-22 10:20:10

Penny Mordaunt is being touted as a dark horse.

travelsafar Wed 06-Jul-22 10:32:13

I believe that Rishi Sunak has resigned along with Javid as both of them will try to go for the PM job if Boris is outed or resigns.

Sandybeth Wed 06-Jul-22 10:33:42

From my understanding Rees Mog sold the shares that his company held in FBC in 2017. As a Christian, I support his anti abortion vote.

Boz Wed 06-Jul-22 10:34:34

Johnson, on the whole, surrounds himself with 3rd raters. Do you really imagine Mrs. T. having Patel or Dorries sitting in the Cabinet?

Boz Wed 06-Jul-22 10:36:00

I had to turn old Mogg off last evening. His supercilousness is unbearable.

Glorianny Wed 06-Jul-22 10:38:25

Oh come on it's got to be Liz Truss hasn't it? grin
Or what about Priti Patel???

Boz Wed 06-Jul-22 10:38:43

Who in their right mind would want to be the next P.M.. We are heading for a recession and the Winter ahead looks bleak for a lot of people. I think a GE is looming next Spring which Labour will win.

maddyone Wed 06-Jul-22 10:42:17

I reckon Sunak is after the job.

I think that too.

paddyann54 Wed 06-Jul-22 10:42:23

Patel or Truss? the world will fall about laughing ,dumb and dumber comes to mind.Though the same can be said of most of the current Tory gaggle of liars ,cheats ,thieves .

I thought that the post you were responding to was a parody!

There isn't a single member of this tory government who can be seen as having any integrity. And they certainly don't have the interests of the UK and its citizens anywhere near their hearts...

I fear that if any of the names being touted as possible party leaders were to actually gain the post they would just be more efficient destroyers of the UK than is the present incumbent. They have been firmly behind every bit of fascist legislation put forward by this government.*

(* I suggest that people read the article I linked to on the thread I started recently)

I agree absolutely. There are surely one or two decent Tories amongst the back benchers. I was no Thatcher lover but at least she had some integrity.

Visgir1 Wed 06-Jul-22 11:03:55

Let's face it.. Unless BJ quits he's safe until next May.
It's in the hands of Graham Brady, let's hope he can sort this?

My money as I said on GM months ago is on Penny Mordaunt, but expect it will be Truss..

RichmondPark Wed 06-Jul-22 11:20:59

I hated Thatcher, but I never thought she was out to sell the country down the river for her own personal gain. I can't say the same fo Johnson or the filibustering, profiteering, anti-abortion even on medical grounds or grounds of rape Mogg.

Bea65 Wed 06-Jul-22 11:28:23

travelsafar my thoughts last night was they both exited to force Boris out and then the both of them come roaring back in!

Shinamae Wed 06-Jul-22 11:33:45

Bagpuss!!! ?
