Ken Clarke has posted a text from Ian Brady

“FFS will they ever let me rest!”

I am guessing letters arriving in.

Fleurpepper Mon 26-Sep-22 16:51:51

Surely if there is a vote of no confidence, they will JUST HAVE TO CALL FOR GE.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 26-Sep-22 16:52:44

I would hope do!

I don’t think the U.K. has ever been in such a mess.

Mamie Mon 26-Sep-22 16:57:25

Um - did you mean Graham Brady?

NotTooOld Mon 26-Sep-22 17:01:02

Mamie - I think the OP did. grin

Whitewavemark2 Mon 26-Sep-22 17:01:09

??? oh yes.

CoolCoco Mon 26-Sep-22 17:11:04

I think if they changed leaders again we'd have to have a GE.

volver Mon 26-Sep-22 17:13:22

That's not really Ken Clarke. It's probably not really Graham Brady either ?

Whew.

I think we should have a GE in that instance but I don't think we would.
I can't believe the mess we are suddenly in. What are they thinking?

NotSpaghetti Mon 26-Sep-22 17:31:06

They would probably just have Sunak I think.

NotSpaghetti Mon 26-Sep-22 17:31:39

MPs didn't want Truss - OR Johnson for that matter.

Oldbat1 Mon 26-Sep-22 18:30:47

We are a disgrace as a country. Neither wonder Scotland are desperate to leave - if only.

nanaK54 Mon 26-Sep-22 18:33:50

Honestly, you couldn't write this stuff

Whitewavemark2 Mon 26-Sep-22 18:43:29

Andrew Marr commenting on the number of letters being put in.

He said that Tory MPs are extremely angry, or in his term “mad as cheese”

MayBee70 Mon 26-Sep-22 18:50:44

It’s like a party lottery. Let’s see who else can be PM so they can get a huge pension for life ( and police protection: mind you, with the Tories reducing police numbers over the past few years will there be enough police to do it?). What happened to ‘strong and stable’?

I heard a radio interview with Kenneth Clarke yesterday, in which he compares the economic policies of the current government with Latin American governments and with Italy.

In fact it is the best informed and most intelligent critique of this current governement and its disastrous economic policies I have read to date. www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/ken-clarke-kwasi-kwarteng-tax-cuts-like-latin-america_uk_63305d31e4b0e2478903f776

As a Labour voter I’ve always sung Ken Clarke’s praises, I didn’t often agree with him, but he was always straight, and saw the big picture. He must have his head in his hands permanently just now.

Daisymae Mon 26-Sep-22 19:21:19

I think that we need a GE. They have no mandate for the action they are taking. This is supposed to be a democracy.

Prentice Mon 26-Sep-22 21:01:57

For the sake of the UK we do not want another change in PM before a general election. It is too much!
There is too much unrest and uncertainty in Europe as it is.

Blossoming Mon 26-Sep-22 21:06:01

There won’t be any UK left by then Prentice

Prentice Mon 26-Sep-22 21:21:47

A slight exaggeration there Blossoming although I do know what you mean.

Truss being reported in USA as “bonkers”

Each Tory PM is worse than the last, but I thought we’d reached the bottom of the barrel with Johnson, but no, the Tories have managed to do it again and inflict someone along with her ex-lover, who is not only corrupt but willing to trash the U.K. even further.

Kwartang removed the cap on bankers bonuses - for all his friends in the city- then ensured that these bonuses would be absolutely massive by creating the conditions for shortening the £ on a large scale. Thus creating huge profits for the banks on which their bonuses are calculated.

Do you realise how the sinking £ will affect every household in the UK - how much this will affect the cost of living?

The unrest and uncertainty is being fuelled further by Truss' and Kwarteng's borrowing madness. The markets are spooked and that's really bad news for us.

Neither of these two self-proclaimed economic messiahs have a mandate for this fiscal madness.
