King Charles Tells Cyclists 'I Like My Walking' After They Meet Him Hiking Solo in Scotland

A group of cyclists were left stunned after bumping into the royal hiking alone on the Balmoral Estate in Scotland and captured the moment on a GoPro video shared to McTrail Rider’s YouTube channel on Monday.

all over the news

Yes, I saw it. The interaction between the King and the cyclists was so ‘normal’. They say he wasn’t actually alone. Security wasn’t far behind. But still……I’m beginning to warm to him.

the others had gone past the cyclists in cars then they spotted a walker and one said it must be a miner royal having a walk and were surprised it was the King..

I remember a similar encounter with the late Queen and some Americans asking her if she knew the Queen

They may be Royalty, but they are human.

SueDonim Thu 21-Sep-23 18:55:51

We lived near Balmoral. A group of DD’s friends met the queen when they were out hillwalking one day. Her dogs ran over to the girls and the queen called the dogs back and apologised. It was only when the girls walked on that one of them said ‘That was the queen, wasn’t it?’ grin

She was quite alone although I’m sure there was a sniper behind every clump of heather.

I believe the queen was out walking with one of her police protection officers, named Richard, on that occasion. She is purported to have replied ‘Well I never have but Dick here meets her quite regularly.’

Blimey, the King managed to meet people and talk to them normally!

He’s a good and sensible man. I actually think he is going to make a very good monarch. Pity they can’t find a PM like him!

Our PMs managed to ruffle feathers of the French.
It looks as if our King is smoothing them down again.

Galaxy Fri 22-Sep-23 07:57:18

I have met him and dont think its astounding that he is able to walk and talk.

Galaxy Fri 22-Sep-23 08:01:44

Actually thinking about it I have not one idea why he visited our village, it was a small north east village, I am fond of it as I was born there but I cant imagine why he was there. I was a teenager.

Where did they get the money to buy that huge estate with many, many acres. Asked for an increase in funding and bought it with that. No inheritance tax paid. There are calls for RF to pay reparation for their colonial past and in which the Windsors benefited enormously and still do. In 70s Queen had a transparency law changed to hide her embarrassing wealth. RF looking after own interests its all they do.

Anniebach Fri 22-Sep-23 11:18:51

What estate have they bought Grany ?

It was first rented in 1848 and was then bought in 1852. It was purchased by Prince Albert for himself and his wife, Queen Victoria, reportedly paying £32,000 to acquire the estate. He bought Balmoral six years after the couple first visited Scotland and it's been passed down through the royal family ever since.

Fortunately not because I would have difficulty holding back what I thought of his behaviour in the past. However, that aside, if you are going to have all the perks of his office, then the least you can do is act "normal" with your "subjects" and treat them with respect when you are out and about. I'm not sure why anybody should be surprised.

Do you actually mean that, ichtb? You would chastise him for certain behaviour you have only heard about in the media? Or do you mean you would want to congratulate him?

icanhandthemback Fri 22-Sep-23 20:54:23

Actually, Daddima, he has admitted to his appalling behaviour in a tv interview. No, I would not want to congratulate him.

Anniebach Fri 22-Sep-23 20:59:35

Yes, following his wife’s appalling behaviour
