oh I wish I was there. Looks like a great crowd. The BBC will say there were a handful, of course.

Beeb usually exaggerate, or not, depending on the politics of the event. Let's see shall we, I'll guess they'll over egg it.

Be careful of your source of info regarding the march there are photos and videos on line showing Big Ben covered in scaffolding which it isn’t anymore.

I think The Independent newspaper should be pretty reliable,
They just say "thousands" not a specific figure.

kittylester Sat 23-Sep-23 16:23:24

But why? For clarity, I voted remain.

Sadly, I am not there, but I know a good few who are. Lovely day for it too. I do wonder if it will get coverage. Mind you, even the BBC are permitting interviewers and their guests to discuss the resounding success of Brexit, so maybe it will. Shall watch Laura Kuennsberg in the morning and see what she says

I'd have thought that this is very obvious.

And also to give Labour and Starmer a strong message.

Saw an interesting programme on Channel 5 this week “5 a day/ the big con?”, which frequently mentioned the negative effects of Brexit on our farming.

Over 62% want to rejoin. Good isn’t it? People are refusing to believe the lies any more. Good for them.

Most of the rest are not sure- and VERY few still would vote for Brexit now.

And because it is an unmitigated disaster for the UK.

It's the first I've heard of it.

StaceyAnna politicians in many countries seem to hate farmers, I have no idea why.

Fleurpepper Sat 23-Sep-23 17:17:59

First you heard of what? The massively negative effect of Brexit on farming?

No!!
We have farmers in the family.

The March.

As I said:

Where they think their food comes from for their subsidised meals, goodness knows.

Callistemon21 Sat 23-Sep-23 17:29:50

Are your family in the farming business, FleurPepper?

Fleurpepper Sat 23-Sep-23 17:32:25

Not at all. I am however surrounded by farmers. The effect of Brexit on British farming have been very well exposed and documented, by the Farmers Union and others.

The Independent said 51% would vote to rejoin the EU. I presume they’ll be happy with having to have the Euro as currency and the billions of £’s we’ll be charged to rejoin. We would lose the rebate we used to get from our payments to the EU (£17 billion in 2020). We will also lose control of fishing grounds (we would fully regain them in 2026) and many other aspects such as defence and our courts.
I think before any vote is taken we need to know what the overall cost will be and what the EU will and won’t allow us to do. I do not like the fact that Starmer is hinting that he’d rejoin should he be elected. We need hard facts, preferably from the EU itself as to what our deal we would get. Only then can people make an educated decision. It is for the people to decide not Starmer.
For the record we are disillusioned Labour supporters.

Well, I know!

Callistemon21 Sat 23-Sep-23 17:39:13

Perhaps the organisers should have advertised it more widely.

I don’t think Starmer is hinting that Labour will try to rejoin, at least not in the immediate future. What he is trying to do is rebuild our relationship with our closest trading partners ( remember Truss’s comment regarding France: friend or foe…’the jury’s out’) and from what I’ve been led to believe he’s been doing that for a long time. I feel that rejoining won’t be in my lifetime but I do believe very strongly that we have to heal the wounds that Brexit has caused, both within this country and with our neighbouring countries.

Oreo Sat 23-Sep-23 20:40:07

Starmer and Reeve have both said they won’t be trying to overturn Brexit and ruled out the single market and customs union. They say they just want better relations with the EU in the future. If they ever go back on that their words are there for all to see.I don’t think they will do tho.

Oreo Sat 23-Sep-23 20:40:58

Today’s march was a waste of time.

Oreo Sat 23-Sep-23 20:43:10

They had a nice sunny day for it☀️

I didn’t hear about it until I read this thread, but I’ve got better things to do of a Saturday.😁
