I've been dipping into this periodically. I'm horrified by the statements as reported in main stream media.

Grannynannywanny Tue 31-Oct-23 15:54:57

I’ve just realised there’s live coverage on the BBC News channel. Dominic Cummings currently being questioned

Marydoll Tue 31-Oct-23 15:57:34

I too am horrified and also angry at what I am hearing.
DH has been glued to it for two days.

Doesn’t Cummings understand, given that he’s slating everybody in government and the civil service, that he was the main advisor to the most powerful man in the country at the time. He really can talk the talk can’t he. It is riveting though.

Culling old people 😮😮😮

Never heard such bad language in a political news report before!

MayBee70 Tue 31-Oct-23 16:57:32

I hope Johnson supporters on here are listening to what Cummings is saying about him!

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 31-Oct-23 17:09:01

I am reminded vividly of the ‘Thick of It’ where there is a government enquiry. I’ve just finished watching the whole series again. The real enquiry has more bad language.

It is horrible to know that this is the way our Prime Minister and his Government thought about people our age. As if we are disposable as long as the economy doesn't suffer. As if we have nothing to add to society or indeed the economy.

Marydoll Tue 31-Oct-23 17:57:44

Ilovecheese, my thoughts exactly.

Although I agree the bad language is deplorable, it pales into insignificance in the light of the despicable behaviour of those supposedly steering our country.

The KC questioning Boris is outstanding.

Link to the covid inquiry:

All past witness sessions are available, either as videos or transcripts.

The shocking thing is that a great deal of what is being divulged has been known about for a very long time, including Johnson's complete unfitness to be PM and inability to lead the UK through a crisis.

Just think of all the people our age who staunchly defended him on GNet hmm

Are any still willing to do so?

Greyisnotmycolour Tue 31-Oct-23 18:07:44

And yet, there's a whole thread of people who will still vote conservative.

Exactly. Lucky them that they can still vote, many can’t.

Want to hear how prioritising the economy translated into closing the schools and keeping them closed. Those pigeons are coming home to roost and the economy will suffer from an under-educated workforce.

Luckygirl3 Tue 31-Oct-23 18:49:08

Here is a gem from a Mr Cain, communications officer at number 10 ......

"It was the wrong crisis for this prime minster's skill set."

Head in hands icon needed ...........

GrannyGravy13 Tue 31-Oct-23 18:58:45

I think most Governments were floundering , ours appears to have been drowning.

Oldbat1 Tue 31-Oct-23 19:06:10

Yes ive been watching. The bottom line was BJ just not up to doing PM job!

M0nica Tue 31-Oct-23 19:11:29

I want to say did anyone ever believe that BJ was capable of runnng a whelk stall, let alone a government - except, of course, so many people do

By the way can anyone think of a crisis that was right for BJ's skill set? I cannot.

MayBee70 Tue 31-Oct-23 19:15:09

What exactly is Boris Johnson’s skill set?

Chocolatelovinggran Tue 31-Oct-23 19:21:16

Self promotion is BJ's skill set as many who have worked with him have said over the years.

Deedaa Tue 31-Oct-23 19:37:18

I am wondering if any of the "older" voters, who always tell you that Good Old Boris is Such A Card, will be changing their views.

and the CEVs.

After all we are a drain on the NHS. I know I am.
I was admitted to hospital with a second heart attack during the pandemic, home in twenty four hours, with no follow up. At the time, I said to my husband, I'm sure they are hoping I will die and take some pressure off the system.
