And how brave was his wife.
I can't imagine having her strength.

You left your mark Alexei.

Awful. Let's hope that his message lives on and that there will be others to take his place, although they will have to be extremely brave.

MaizieD Fri 16-Feb-24 11:47:55

So very sad to hear this, but I am amazed that he survived this long.

He was a very brave man. I do hope his death isn't in vain...

Why did he go back! Poor man, good man! Not many so brave.

AGAA4 Fri 16-Feb-24 11:52:03

Such a brave man. Sad news.

He said he had to go back.
He was seen about a month ago on a video in pretty good spirits despite being in that most terrible of prisons.

Bill Browder is currently talking about him on LBC

This has brought me to tears. Such bravery and such savage spite by Putin. I doubt very much this giant of a man died a natural death. May he RIP and I pray his fight wasn’t in vain sad

I concur - I too suspect this isn't what it seems.

So sad to read this, a very brave and courageous man, the opponents of Putin, they all die in the end, it's the way of a tyrant.

RIP Alex

Sad indeed, but not unexpected. Brave, principled, idealistic but rational too, he was more than aware of what might come. A hero of the free world.
Events, actions, behaviour stress that no opposition is possible in Putin’s universe.
RIP Alexei Navalny.

This day we all hoped wouldn’t come. It is totally devastating.

We have another thread on GN about AN and a number of us have been searching for an address to send him a birthday card. We are too late for that sadly, but will continue to keep his name in the spotlight.

Rest in peace dear man. 💐

I will not put on here the words I want to say condemning Putin and his followers. All I will say is he and Hitler are EVIL men.

Chocolatelovinggran Fri 16-Feb-24 13:31:57

A huge loss to his family and to the world of free speech. Putin's hand is all over this.

Bella23 Fri 16-Feb-24 13:36:22

Such a brave man will anyone dare take his place.
R.I.P

Appalling. Has the Russian government no shame? Are there no depths they won't plumb? Obviously not!!
RIP a man of principle.

Poor brave, wonderful man.. sadly it was just a matter of time and it shows quite clearly how Russia regards the opinions of the West..
