She was an American lady of style and panache! A renowned New York designer.

She became a fashion model in her 90’s RIP 💐

An interesting look!😄
Without the glasses I’d say it was ok.

Urmstongran Sat 02-Mar-24 14:28:22

Very interesting! She certainly stood out.
I think the spex were her trademark. Mind you the lipstick came a close second! Certainly flamboyant.
😊

Married 67 years, Carl died on August 1, 2015, aged 100. Don’t they just look an amazing couple? No kids. A joy of life with chutzpah. This photo is sweet. I think they look a fun couple to be around.

Urmstongran Sat 02-Mar-24 14:36:42

I will stop now.
I think I’m becoming obsessed.

Oreo Sat 02-Mar-24 14:39:46

Go on, buy yourself those spex🤣

MissInterpreted Sat 02-Mar-24 14:41:02

She was fabulous! And yes, Urmstongran, they do look like such an amazing couple. I love her flamboyant sense of style and how she did things her own way. RIP Iris.

Loved the woman. Followed her for years 🥰

Such a positive take on being " an old woman": thank you Iris.

She has been my heroine for about 10 years now. She kicked all the tired old assumptions of what an old lady ought to be out of the ball park.

Please, please can we have more like her.

Calendargirl Sat 02-Mar-24 16:16:45

No kids, makes you think.

Could just suit themselves and do whatever they want.

Plus living a very long life.

Not the stress of family perhaps, but not the joys either.

Absolutely!

Not every childless couple are childess by choice. I have always felt that she was one of these people, who would have made a big impression on the world whther she had a family or not.

I loved and admired her incredible style .

RIP Iris 💐

I thought she was great. I've got one of the necklaces she designed for H&M a couple of years ago.

BlueBelle Sat 02-Mar-24 21:03:55

Frankly her style doesn’t appeal at all but I admire her spirit although she didn’t really feature for me I think the glasses are very comedic and not a look I d go for but she sounds a game old girl and her age was pretty incredible

M0nica Sun 03-Mar-24 06:31:57

It is not a question of whether one admired her style, but she counted and was someone who had a presence and views and opinions to the end and was never disregarded as most old women are.

BlueBelle Sun 03-Mar-24 06:54:12

Which is why I said I admire her spirit monica

The photo is from today’s obits column in the Telegraph.
Now THAT’s a statement outfit any day!

RIP

I can’t say I particularly liked her dress style .
However I admired her for ‘doing it her way’.

To my shame, I've g get heard of this lady, but she does look quite? extraordinary! You could be right about the lack of children!! Mind you perhaps they just didn't happen... My mother remarried and I was 4 and sadly she didn't have any more children. They certainly wanted them, but it wasn't to be.
