It has been my experience that most grans are in their 40's or 50's these days.....hardly old, so what's with the logo?

JackieW2 Mon 18-Apr-11 07:34:49

Although I am in my sixties - the sixties are the new forties by the way - I agree. Completely wrong and the person who came up with it was probably paid a fortune!

I'm 58 and remember that my own gran was (or so I thought at the time) an 'old lady' by then. How times change - my in-laws are both 75 and I never think of them as old.

glassortwo Thu 05-May-11 12:53:12

The logo is very old hat, I dont even know anyone who was in the Land Army, I am 55 not 75 as the logo implies.

Angelwispa Thu 05-May-11 12:54:50

I agree about the logo, it looks like the inspiration has been taken from war time era! I know that 'retro' and 'vintage' are in fashion at the moment, but there must have been something better and maybe even more colourful that they could come up with! smile

By the way I'm a 'granny in waiting' at the moment and I'm 52, and I've a friend who is going to be a step gran and she is in her 30's !!!!

glassortwo Thu 05-May-11 13:02:45

angel hi, I love being a grandma, I have 5 now. I thought I was young at 38, what does your friend think of being a SGM in her 30's.

jangly Thu 05-May-11 18:47:18

I'm 69 and even I was a very small child in the days of the WW2 land army! I think the logo is ridiculous! What were they thinking of! grin

jangly Thu 05-May-11 18:48:19

At least put the gran in a nice blouse from per una.

MadHairGranny Thu 05-May-11 18:49:49

Your posts make me feel practically senile - I'm 72, first became a granny at 60. I don't think I'm unusual as the average age of having a first child seems to be getting later, i.e. a lot of our Ds and DiLs are giving birth in their 30s. But I suppose at my age I may not get to be a great-granny, though I'd really like to get there.

Notsogrand Thu 05-May-11 19:38:50

I'm 64...that's not old is it? Love the idea of Gransnet, but the logo and general look of the banner heading has missed the mark a bit.

pinkprincess Thu 05-May-11 20:10:31

I am 66.Been a grandmother since I was 47.
My sister became a grandmother at 39.She is now 61 and became a greatgrandmother last year.

Angelwispa Thu 05-May-11 21:33:16

Hi Glassortwo, I think the word for my friend is shellshocked!!!

glassortwo Thu 05-May-11 21:38:41

Hi everyone. Well we all seem to have the same opinion regarding the logo.

angel I think shellshocked just about sums it up!

grannygrunt Thu 05-May-11 21:54:03

Hi, I am 61 and have nine grandchildren. The eldest is 23 years old and the youngest is nearly four months so I could well end up with great grandchildren older than some of me grandchildren! Still I wouldn't change it for the world. I love being a grandma.

nannyogg Thu 05-May-11 23:12:21

I'd rather have a picture of the Beatles grin

GrannyTunnocks Fri 06-May-11 09:03:20

I am 66 but still consider myself a modern gran. I was also born at the end of WW2 but don't associate with the land army. My parents were the generation who experienced WW2. The logo is a bit old fashioned.

crazynanna Fri 06-May-11 09:23:45

47 and 5 GC.....Am I a baby? grin

gingerbread Fri 06-May-11 09:37:09

I'm 56 with 6 granddaughters - not old at all, still 25 in my head until I look in the mirror! Can't make my mind up about the logo - part of me thinks it's a powerful pic - at least it's better than a "knitting nana" from the Shreddies ads wink.

Maddie Fri 06-May-11 10:03:43

Just turned 56 ... I agree with you gingerbread however I still think I am 18! I have three grandchildren 12, 4 and 2. Yes I also agree that the logo is not 'us' is it!

Clematis Fri 06-May-11 11:20:51

I first became a grandma at 42, my mum was a great gran at 63, and my own gran was still alive and was a great great gran at 83.....5 generations!

twinklepickers Fri 06-May-11 14:38:08

A lady never reveals her true age. According to my knickers I'm 10. wink

Divawithattitude Fri 06-May-11 15:21:55

54 going on 19..................sadly no one else can see the 19year old who is still in there!

nannylittle Fri 06-May-11 15:49:37

I'm 39 and my first grandchild is 12 weeks old.grin
And just to add a twist,my daughter-in-law is 36.shockgrin

GeraldineGransnet (GNHQ) Fri 06-May-11 16:28:12

Please do keep the comments coming, though we're a bit scared by the idea that the logo might have to be more colourful. It's a pretty alarming pink already!

supernana Fri 06-May-11 16:36:24

I shall be 70 in August. Have three fine sons and three delightful daughters in law. Seven grandchildren, three boys and three girls. The youngest is an adorable one year old and the eldest a graceful twenty two year old art student. Aren't we all so lucky? Athough I have a few discomforting health conditions, I feel so very young in spirit. Best wishes to all the ladies on this site. And yes, being an artist, I would love us to have a sizzling logo!
