Getting married for the second time and as older people we do not want to pay heaps of money out. Between us we have 7 younger grandchildren. 5 are girls so pretty dresses from the matalan asda etc are what we have decided on. However we have 2 boys aged 7 and we feel 5 girls are enough for a registry office wedding, any ideas what role we could give to the boys to make them feel involved?

Could they take part as ushers / greeters at the registry office,

Could one of them be the 'ring holder' for the best man? smile

Congratulations, not sure what to suggest re boys but am sure you will all have a wonderful day.
(And nothing wrong with asda/matalan)

Congratulations. Hope you have a wonderful wedding and a marvellous life together.

Could the seven year old boys help addressing invitations, or stand on either side of their (new?) granddad at the ceremony? I assume the grils are your bridesmaids, so the boys could be his pages or mini bestmen, perhaps.

get them to escort people to their seats and hand out hymn sheets ,the things ushers are supposed to do and often dont

Sandye congratulations on your forthcoming wedding.
My DH and I celebrated our Golden Wedding a few years ago and had a church service to renew our vows.
We had the same dilemma as you with four young GS's to be given a role.
As the weather was extremely warm, they had a lovely job giving out fans to all the guests arriving at church.
Perhaps something similar...fans or small bags of sweets for guests.
Good luck. flowers

Wishing you both every happiness I’m sure your day will be lovely whatever you choose.

Thank you all, I like the idea of ring bearers or to give out hymn sheets. Just hope the weather is good

Yes, ushers (left side bride, right side groom!) and handing out the orders of service.
They will feel very important, as they surely will be.

My DGS took his ring bearer responsibilities very seriously and 3 years later is still proud that he carried out his duties so well. You could have 2 of them.
Greeting and ushering are equally important!
Have a lovely day and be happy that you have all these lovely DGC as well as a new husband!
(Ps TK Maxx also have range of suitable dresses).

BHS used to do lovely bridesmaids' dresses sad

One of my DDs got some lovely little bridesmaids' dresses (new, white satin with coloured sashes and petticoats) from eBay for next to nothing. Oh, I'm feeling envy - I love a good wedding!

If someone can do simple dress making, then matching waistcoats for the boys look nice with plain trousers and white shirt.

MissAdventure Mon 18-Feb-19 22:03:33

It sounds like it's going to be a beautiful day, whatever the weather.
Congratulations! smile

When we got married a few years ago, I wore a pink dress and DH wore a white suit. We had a few little children there , so I just told the parents that pink was the "wedding colour" for the kids. They all wore different things, but pink was the general theme. The photos are gorgeous !
